GW2 Support Warrior!

Zakis

War Priestess
Hey warriors, come out and plaaaayyy!

My second character is a warrior and seeing how I enjoy support I wanted to have a support build for my warrior as an option. I am currently running a precision crit rifle build on my engineer with elixirs to support teammates. I would like to find something balanced that still allows me to deal out decent dps but buff and support with banners/shouts. Ill post up a theorycraft build later, but i was curious if any of you guys had run with some sort of support build.

This seems alright, but I only just threw it together now. Midline support from the longbow, banners, and healing shouts, along with crowd control/critical hits from the mace. I have very little experience with the warrior, however, so take it with a grain of salt.

Heyas!

Warriors actually can do some amazing support!

From my experience, there are two ways to go about this; basicly the "PVP" way and the "PVE" way.

For PVP, you want to focus on Shout support rather than banners.
For PVE, you can go either way; realy what comps best for your group.

Banners buffs are great, but the Healz recieved from Shouts in the correct specc are instense! aswell as the utility/boons.
If you have a good group though in PVE, the healz are not needed and you can go with the banners.

Either the way though, i use swrd/shield in both weps sets and use "on swap" sigils such as sigil of Hydromancy(a snare) in conjuction with the Sigil of Water(30%chance to heal allies). you should be running around 2400+toughness in this specc.
That being said, for pvp, 1v1 and majority of 2v1 situations you will be unbeatable; and in that, in group situations, you will usually be ignored and allowed to stack your bleeds on people aswell as assist your teammates.

In PvE, i would suggest a rifle off-set. Your damage will drop a bit in the shortrun, but over duration of a fight you will actually maintain a higher dps; via, you dont have to leave combat to stay alive.

I will probably post a video explaining warrior support specc on my youtube channel somtime in the next week or so.

Devve has some good points about Shouts and Banners, and I completely agree. My experience with my Warrior is mostly limited to PvE; from this perspective, I have a couple of fairly good strategies for supporting the team.

For shouts, "For great justice" is always nice to keep on hand, "Shake it off" gives an AOE condition removal, which is perfect for countering an AOE cripple or burn. For banners, they all work nicely and it depends on the make-up of the team to determine which is best suited. The elite banner is a great addition to a team, because it gives stability and can pick up downed allies in the area (max 3-4).

Use mending as your healing skill so you can break conditions when needed in order to stay mobile.

For weapons, I believe the longbow is the better choice for ranged because it's Burst skill gives a rather large 6-ish-second AOE combo field. You can immediately fire skill # 3 (Arcing Arrow) into the mix to give an AOE might burst finisher. As for melee, control is your key to helping the team. Warriors fall short of some of the other classes in terms of boosting allies (heals/boons/condition removal), although they all have the ability, it takes a large toll on survivability and damage to focus only on these things. I recommend using a Hammer main, and Mace/Mace secondary weapon set. This allows you to dish out stuns and knockdowns almost constantly in most battles.

Hey man, sorry I can't explain to much in detail with this, but this is my preferred build for support warrior. My face is swollen with an abcessed tooth that literally has me on my knees in pain so, I'll go into as much detail as I can but its pretty straight forward.

Build: http://www.intothemists.com/calc/?build=-ss-70;0VKkN0_47L-60;9;49OJ-E4;046-09;24;0I-k3;2ZF18ZF185BX

Pros
1. Very good CC capability, 2 knockbacks (one being AoE), a knockdown, a AoE stun, an a AoE fear.
2. Good sustained damage.
3. High Crit rate, triggers crit based effects: Sigil of superior air procs, vulnerability, and bleed.
4. Sustained Condition removal via shouts and mending.

Cons
1. Lacks high-end burst damage.
2. Lacks stability boon and some oh sheet buttons so to speak.

I'll see about going into more detail so to speak later, also please do note that if anyone has paid any attention to my activity alone, you'll notice I've been gone for quite sometime, so if there has been any changes since last I messed with and studied Warrior builds, forgive me if what I post is dated. Also right after posting this I'll update my AFK post.

I also have a mace / Shield build I like to use, sort of a control / defense build.

Build: http://www.intothemists.com/calc/?build=-sBxF-0-VKFM0V4sK-60;9;4T-T-946A;1168;14;8OZG5OZG56gx

The first three abilities you get from the Mace are weakness, block, and a daze. Shield gives you a stun and a block. I like Warhorn as the weapon swap, the Charge ability grants swiftness. This ability also benefits nearby allies and cures chilled, crippled, and immobilized. An then the Sword is personal preference with a bit more mobility due to a Leap, and then more target up time due to the cripple.

For utility skills you have Bull's Charge, its beautiful, charge + knockback. Then Throw Bolas, throw and immobilize your enemy. Then kick for a nice little push back. These are all physical utilities that will be buffed through traits. (Physical Training from the Strength Trait, last one)

Again as above, I haven't played in sometime, so I'm simply assuming these are all still gtg and not out dated due to patches and changes to skills and blah blah blah.

Anyways, have fun! Warrior is for sure a great profession.

Totally missed your post until today Rafiki. Hope you get that tooth fixed and feel better man. Thanks for the info, I will try out these builds!
