Critique Wanted! T1G Tuesdays: Videos from me about stuff.

TIG

I like GOOOOOLLLLD!
I spend so much time ingesting the internet and information from sources all around me that many of my friends say I am the go to guy if they want to know something. I find lots of random cool stuff that I want to share with people so I started a vlog to do just that. Here it is, and please give me comments on what you think I can do better, worse, whatever. What you liked or didn't or subjects you want to see me talk about.

Week 2

I think it could be a bit more concise. I started to wonder a little bit as you explained. But I like your topics they were interesting!

I keep thinking about shaving the beard. I may do a progressive shave/pic taking session to see what looks best.

cool, thx. I did notice the 3d printer stuff went long.

Yo T1G here's some feedback...
1. As twistedatoms said. Maybe get yourself an offscreen cue card with bullet points to keep yourself more on track.
2. Its good that you talk with your hands, but try not to use them way too much or you look like a wacky inflatable arm flailing tube man (not saying you did but just be aware of it).
3. Your subjects are interesting, keep up the good work!

On the subject of 3d printers my friend and I were talking about chipping in for one so we could make our own figurines for our dnd campaigns that actually looked like our characters and I loved the info you gave on some of the newer ones. Very cool.

My girlfriend said I talk with my hands too much too. I may move the camera closer so its not as bad.

Its more of something to be aware of. Theres a lot of studies done on people who talk with their hands, maybe you could make a segment about it. :D

One thing I can recommend is to get the audio more in sync with the video, or it just might be my computer.

EDIT:
Was watching your video, halfway you started talking about the human-heat-powered flashlight; PELTIER COOLING!
Anyway, after seeing the girl who made it my mind went blank...
Also, I wish I could compete with that science fair too... no wait what am I saying; I'll compete next year!

Energy transfer by lasers, my own drone, stratosphere control satellite. And that's nothing, maybe a Gauss Rifle too?

Ya, I had read and knew what the thing was before the video, but my mind drew a blank and I didn't want to stop to look it up.

You totally should enter those contests as much as possible. I am sure you are one of the people who will change the world if you keep on the path you are going.

One good thing I keep hearing/inferring is that people are finding some cool new things out of the stuff I talk about. Once I perfect the delivery I think it may be a good vlog.

I already put Google's Science Fair on top of my list, don't know of any others yet. But it might be a way to get a good enough scholarship for MIT.

Also, I'm liking the vlog to be honest! I didn't even know about the Twinkies >.<

I hear that's a sign of intelligence, or so I tell myself because I do it too ;D

Nicely done though, interesting topics. The only feedback I would have is maybe overlaying some additional graphics/pictures as you discuss different topics.

That is an epic use for 3d printers! They are really coming down in price and you won't need a large printer for creating figurines like that.

I just uploaded week 2. video is in the OP.

I managed to get the output to hd quality, stopped waving my hands around, and added more things that isn't my face talking at you. The video did loose focus about half way through and I didn't catch it, but oh well. I'm still learning.

Can definitely see improvements with your confidence as compared to the last video. Keep it up! I like having you learn things for me.

It may be worthwhile to take a look at the How's It's Made show (and the like) and model their format. I want to see the thing you're talking about and also want the information to be concise and delivered in a format that flows so it's easy to follow and digest.
