This is the most accurate color depiction of what the "gold" iphone looks like. This is pretty much why I went with the space grey. The gold is not gold or champagne imo. it is a very muted darker silver:

But yeah, it looks shitty IMO. I thought the same way with the white too, but there will always be people that want only the newest thing. I have always preferred black electronics to anything else, and it really shines when I have everything matching. The worst eyesore was having a Purple Gamecube next to all my black electronics. What an eyesore.
It seemed to change shades depending on how the light struck it. In full light with good reflection, it looks very gold, but at an angle or in shadow, more muted silver.
Personally, I think a gold phone is just gaudy anyway.
