Not open for further replies.
Players:
#1: Kel - Three letter nickname... Kel... Could be cryptogram for SPY!
#2: Kismet - Pure as the driven snow, Sweeter than maple syrup... Obviously NOT A SPY!
#3: Dire - (Mongoose) "Though not immune to venom, some species attack and kill poisonous snakes by cracking the skull with a powerful bite." (Source: Merriam Websters) = SPY!
#4: Tig - Another three letter nickname, see #1; coupled with the new avatar! SPY!
#5: Tristan - Tristan Really Is SPY! Think Anyone Notices?

T1G - what I'm doing is giving general info based on my knowledge of Mafia forum games. I'm not saying TRUST me. That would be just stupid. What I'm saying is play smart, trust the data from succeed/failed missions and make evidence-based decisions.

Until a mission fails, there's nothing to go off. Throwing mud and accusations is pretty much ALWAYS a good idea though, from what I've learned. You've just gotta see how people respond.

Of course, the reason I still suspect T1G is because he's not giving particularly long responses. The more random crap you post, the more subject to analysis by others you will be. Thus short crappy postings are suggestive of someone having something to hide - in my experience. That said...the fact that I know this (and YOU all now know this) is a reason to suspect me as a meta-gamer.

I love these games ^ ^

Well everything I say is short and random crap. F*** YOU DIRE YOU SPY! Spys don't curse.. :p

((Sorry for the delay, Kel hasn't been online to cast his vote - hope he's okay.
Edit: D'oh... sometimes it helps to double check one's inbox.))

Kel and Tig broke into the lightbulb factory, and after 3 hours and 17 minutes of sneaking around in silence, both the Resistance and the government's strategic lightbulb factory are thoroughly delighted!

Mission #1 succeeds!
Votes:
2 x Success
0 x Failure

Team: Kel, Tig

The next mission leader is Kismet ((we're following the order in which you guys signed up for the game)).
She needs to pick three people for Mission #2!

Woo Hooo! We stole 2 bags of lightbulbs. They look like normal light bulbs to me though. Don't know why the department of defense spends 3mill each on these, but I have them now. I'll be rich when I sell them on the black market.

Sorry, guys. I was maintaining radio silence to prevent any interloping. Also, by drawing unwarranted suspicion towards myself with my absence, the real spies will get complacent and make a mistake.

Thanks to the successful raid, government employees will have to suffer in semidarkness, viva la resistance!

I choose you Pikachu! :)
Actually in lieu of my Pokemon I think Tristan (spy), Dire (spy), and tig (bluffing spy) will make a fail team! Hehe
Go go go!

Until we get a fail mission, we have no real data, so I see no reason not to vote yes. Strategically, no spy should ever vote to fail a 2 person mission as that would cast undue scrutiny on them. That assumes our spies are smart anyway... (and there's a small chance spies will not get picked for either of the two 2-man missions).

Of course...if there are no spies in this group then we WIN as we can just pick the same team next time...but in all probability there is at least one spy in this team.

So I guess we run this mission, it has a 60% chance to fail (assuming random picks, 3/5 group members are present), and if it does we start throwing suspicions at everyone on the team (myself included).

I'm not considering the possibility where spies, if present, would be voting for this mission to suceed either: that'd give us 2/3 wins and make us able to win by process of elimination too easily (well, it'd probably get to mission 5 before figuring it but we could do it!).

Kismet's team has been approved!

It's not clear what the mission objective is going to be, but the team has been picked.
These were the votes:
Kel: No
Kismet: Yes
Dire: Yes
Tig: Yes
Tristan: Yes

Dire, Tig and Tristan must now send me their desired mission outcomes via PM!

((I also changed the spread sheet settings so anyone with the link to it can see it now. Sorry for the inconvenience!))

Of course...if there are no spies in this group then we WIN as we can just pick the same team next time...but in all probability there is at least one spy in this team.

But remember... spies can vote YAY or NAY. SO... even if the mission passes, which ultimately the spies do not want in order to win, they can bluff in the early game stages before too many missions succeed just to confuse the resistance members. Does that make sense?

The results are in!

And as Kismet predicted:

Mission #2 fails!
Votes:
2 x Success
1 x Failure

Team: Dire, Tig, Tristan

Next team leader: Dire - pick two people for Mission #3!

((The spread sheet has been updated as well)

Quick summary:

Mission #1: Operation Lightbulb Factory - Success!
Mission #2: Operation "Fail Team" - Success! (Erm...I mean "Failure"...)

Ok...let's start data crunching before I suggest a team.

So one or two of T1G, Tris or I is are spies...I know I'm NOT a spy, but that rings hollow. So let's just keep everything open - explain every decision.

Points for discussion:

1. Kis - I don't understand why you wouldn't choose yourself to go on a mission - that way you can minimise the number of people you know to be good. Explain yourself! (also see point 5)

There's a possibility that Kismet is a spy and chose the OTHER spy to go on a mission, knowing it would fail too of course. I'm not saying she IS guilty, but this is a valid spy play-tactic to consider.

2. I'd like to know why Kel voted AGAINST the group composition but didn't say anything about it. It's too damn late to change it after the vote! Give us answers! This isn't an accusation in and of itself, but we need to know what you're thinking in order to avoid suspicion. Saying 'I'm maintaining radio silence' is a TERRIBLE idea. It makes you sound like you're hiding something even if you aren't.

3. Tristan, like Kel, is being FAR too quiet btw - especially since he's posting elsewhere. Why is this?

4. T1G, Tris and I were in a failed mission. Can we get any more info from this than what I'm describing above?

5. Going back to point 1. in the next mission, I want to choose myself and someone else, that way there's only a 50% chance of failure rather than a potential 66%. Still not great numbers. Does this makes logical sense?

6. Other than T1G being on the a failed mission along with me (and Tristan of course), I don't have any questions about his conduct so far - but we're still early on in the game. Can you think of a reason to suspect him?

Post every suspicion and then as a group we can digest them and see which are most plausible.
