First of all, thank you all for participating in this beta version of the game! :)

As I'm currently trying to balance out the game, I'm also quite dependent on your feedback to figure out how to tweak it.
If you have a minute to spare, do share your thoughts!

Ze Questionnaire (mostly for the first-time players):
  • Anything you liked or disliked about the game?
  • Where do you see room for improvement?
  • Did you feel that the game was too easy for either the Resistance or the Spies?
  • Any ideas on how to improve moderation of the game?
  • Any additional thoughts?

If you were a returning player/spectator:
  • How would you compare this game to the last one? Was there something that you thought went better in the last game? Or did you see an improvement in this game?
  • What are your thoughts on "The Intel Specialist"? Did it give the Resistance a better shot at winning? Do you think this role requires a few more tweaks, and if yes, do you have any suggestions?
  • See any room for further improvement?

Thank you! :)

GAME OVER!!!

Here is my feedback Jia:

1. Intel Specialist Rule - While I enjoyed this variation, I think in a five player game it really does make things more difficult. It's another avenue of 'deception' and makes it easy for the spies to win because they have a one-in-three chance to 'guess' the spy and assassinate them at the end. Also, I was confused when Baldo confessed to me that he was the intel guy after the rules said you must keep that information secret at all costs. I am pretty sure that is what slanted me away from thinking he was really intel. Sorry Baldo!

2. Spreadsheet worked great for tracking team / mission votes. I used it every time you posted it.

3. Inability of players to add you to PM was a bit frustrating, but I know you said Tristan/Katie are gonna work on a solution for that. So yay!

4. The first Resistance game seemed to be paced a little better, but I think a lot of that has to do with the players themselves. We all have real lives, jobs, play styles, diff time zones, etc., but the banter and trash talk keep it interesting and timely forward progression is important. I am guilty of forgetting to submit my vote and holding things up, so sorry for that guys! :)

5. I still wish there was a variant that would prevent the spies from knowing each other at the onset. I have always felt that gave them unfair advantage, but I also realize that would break things.

CONGRATS TO THE SPIES... AGAIN. *sigh*

I agree that the game is a little slanted towards the spies. My reasoning is that 3 of the 5 missions are 3-person missions, and with 5 people, you have to have the perfect team or you fail. It takes too long to figure that out, and by then you've lost... unless you get lucky. I think a game of 6 with 4 resistance members would balance that out. Also, a 4 out-of 7 game may add some balance and give the resistance more time to figure it out.

All-in-all, I had a good time. I know I was quiet at the start (actually due to heavy work load that got dumped on me, and a busy weekend I spent mostly out of town) but it worked to my advantage at the end as I hadn't been on a mission and hadn't given anyone a chance to form an opinion on me through my words.

Hooray!

Kis, I swear next time we are on the same side, we'll get a win for you!

I think the intel specialist was a good twist (I was really, really hoping Drac was the IS the whole time. That would have been epic.) however, do not like the assassination rule for a group this small. It seems BS that days f work by the Resistance could be undone by basically a coin flip.

So for small groups, I propose a nerf: no assassination rule, and the IS agent gets to see who voted what on FAILED missions they are on. This would reveal one spy, but the second spy could also be there and not revealed if they voted Success.

I think that would remove the OP Deus Ex Machina ending for the spies (which Xi and I did not need, I might add*lick:)

Not to be crude, but why does this sound like something a guy would say to a girl in bed when only he got the WIN. :p

What if we nix the assassination rule, allow the IS to "scope" a mission they were on (pass or fail) but they only get to use it once. Seems like if there is no assassination rule and failed missions can be scoped, one person will know a lot, and the spies will be telling everyone that they are the IS... but then again.. that might make for an interesting game mechanic. "Which 2 of the 3 people telling me they are the IS are the spies??"[DOUBLEPOST=1362702796,1362702705][/DOUBLEPOST]

Well, no offense, but he did kinda screw you over.

Watching from the sidelines, this game had a few 'facepalm' moments...the worst was when Kis revealed that Bald had contacted her with the Intel claim. Bald - you needed to impress on her the importance of keeping the roll secret and Kis - you needed to keep that to yourself even if you thought it was true. Even if you'd won, they'd probably have named Bald the intel officer and you'd have lost again.

As for the the actual playing of the game itself - there's not enough discussing who is a spy yet. This is a tactic I learned in forum Mafia and specifically didn't mention in the first game:

User1: Why they are a spy or not - % you're convinced based on what you just said
User2: Same again. Etc.

Now, I've heard there was a lot of behind the scenes PMing going on too, so I can't comment on that, but quite simply everyone needs to say more!

Yes, things favour the spies quite strongly so far, but we haven't had a lot of experienced resistance members playing this game yet. I think it will improve with time. For example, those of you playing and following should have a much better idea of how spies are trying to gain the confidence of others - and to realise Kis is always going to choose the wrong people to trust :p

Even at the end Kis didn't fully trust me even though i told her i was the Intel Specialist. I put myself out there.

Drac didn't reach out and was pretty much.

After all this i just a beer. :( my head is spinning. Excellent game. well played. I thoroughly enjoyed myself. I will sit the next one out but will gladly hop in the one after if there is one.

Bald IMO you should've reached out to Kis, asked her to 'know more than she should' by feeding her your intel reports. This would have made her look like the intel officer to the spies while simultaneously gaining her trust. Spies could have tried this too of course...I know I would have.

I was thrown off by a few things. First, when Baldo told me he was the IS, he didn't clearly state it... it was vague enough to make me believe it could have been a bluff. And I knew the rule said 'not to disclose it'... so I thought, hmmm... a bluffing spy would disclose it. I know that my thought processes aren't always logical, but if I was the IS, I personally wouldn't tell the one I scoped. I know Kel differs on this opinion.

However, what I did wrong after that disclosure was share my suspicion and intel with Kel, again... my bad... because I didn't know 100% if he was trustworthy, but our rapport outside the game (foolish of me I know) is what led me to talk to him. So then he knew who to assassinate, while still playing it cool with me and telling me 'good thing i'm not a spy'. Oh ho ho *pointing finger*, I'm gonna get you next time Kel! :)

But I think Baldo, your playfulness throughout the game, which I absolutely loved... also made me second guess whether I could believe you. It really is a head throbber at times... but I love the game nonetheless!

My wife made me redact this reply. :angrybirds6:

The thing about Baldo's reveal to Kis is that is wasn't a bad move at all, even if he was a lying Resistance member. I think that'd be a great way to judge reactions.

Kis' reveal to me was also not ALL bad. I was very suspicious of it. I didn't know how far I could trust or use it. In the end, I decided she was sincere, again based on the rapport she mentioned. I then put on my devil hat and weaponized it.

Baldo did well when I poked him about being he intel agent. He said he trusted me and that he was NOT the intel agent. So of course I pmed Kis to say Baldo had told me he WAS the intel agent to further undermine his credibility.. Right after that, Baldo confirmed in the thread that we had talked, but didnt say what about. If he and Kis had compared notes on that, this may have ended different.

I agree with Dire. Open communication really favors the Reistance. The thread was pretty much all banter this game, with the real work taking place in the PMs.

An interesting twist would be to not allow ANY PMs. It would make spy communication much harder and restore the need to "read" each other- without body language! That may tip the scales back in the Resistance's favor.
