Game system/setting name: "Gen2". This is a modified version of the Alternity- Star*Drive setting. When rules are needed or wanted, the Prose Descriptive Qualities engine will be used. Star*Drive is out of print. PM me for a PDF.

The setting:
The endless ocean of stars that is our home galaxy, the Milky Way.

It is year 2506, and after 300 years with FTL drives, mankind has explored 1000 light years in almost every direction from Sol, though only 200 light years in any direction is even remotely well controlled.

Just three years ago, it took the greatest united effort by humanity in centuries to eliminate a new threat... a poison that had nearly corrupted the heart of mankind, Terra itself. Certainly, there was a legitimate scientific name for them, but to soldiers and even intelligence analysts, they were simply "The Enemy", or "Bugs". Untold billions of human lives have been stricken from a galactic tally that was nearing 10 trillion. To this day, the chronicles of the final battles of the war remain shrouded in mystery. It seems unlikely the details will ever surface.

One thing that was sure to stay, however, were the 'Rigs. Developed in the final hour as the countermeasure to the biomechanical 'Bugs', the integrated manned humanoid weapon systems were now the vanguard of any proper military.

The feel:
Clean, smooth, and pretty. Inspirations for this game and setting include: Descent, Mass Effect, Armored Core, and Macross.

The focus:
This RPG is meant to be a narrative, character-oriented exercise in story building, with travel among the stars in pursuit of answers, and high-speed combat in cutting-edge mecha as the primary means of accomplishing the missions. The rules and stats are just a framework to compare and contrast your own equipment and skills against your teammates. It's less about min-maxing, and more about just doing what you think is cool/fun. The GM will moderate accordingly to keep party members balanced against each other as well as the plot.

Gameplay:
On average, a post or two per week of a few paragraphs will get you by. Collaboration and conversation between all players and the GM utilizing an Out of Character (OOC) forum thread, PM's, email, IM, voice chat, etc... is highly encouraged. Missions can be as short as a week or two of IRL time, allowing players to enjoy a taste of Gen2 mecha combat without disrupting the game.
