There's no reason that a larger space would mean more sockets. It could just mean more room for stuff, larger house, ect. It wouldn't necessarily provide strategic advantages. Even if it did and they sold it in the cash shop, that doesn't mean that it couldn't be earned in other ways.i kind of doubt that cash will buy a larger housing plot as that would give you more sockets which is an in game advantage if you could put more farms or mining nodes etc... i agree that items for your house might eventually go micro transactions but i doubt larger plots will.
many games allow you to buy things that have benefits in game and that you can earn other ways and they are still considered pay to win. also with the bigger house would come more slots to put stuff in your house (they already said that house size determines how much stuff you can put in it) which would give you more rest xp therefore a bonus. i am not saying that you are wrong just that from what i have read it seems unlikely. There's no reason that a larger space would mean more sockets. I'm willing to give them slack on things that aren't game breaking. If someone is earning 5% more rested exp than me, I don't consider that a pay to win advantage. If someone has an extra socket so they can more easily access the auction house or craft items, I don't think that's a big deal either. What I consider game breaking is the ability to buy high level gear or similar enhancements like run speed.many games allow you to buy things that have benefits in game and that you can earn other ways and they are still considered pay to win. also with the bigger house would come more slots to put stuff in your house (they already said that house size determines how much stuff you can put in it) which would give you more rest xp therefore a bonus. i am not saying that you are wrong just that from what i have read it seems unlikely.
just seems to me like 60$ box price plus 15$ a month would be enough without micro transactions on top of it. i am not saying it would be game breaking cause it wouldn't be, but it would still annoy me as it is already a lot of money.I'm willing to give them slack on things that aren't game breaking. Since we know that gold can be bought (indirectly), that alone opens up "pay to win" scenarios where they could buy lots of high level crafted gear from other players. I don't expect top-tier raid and PvP gear to be traded on the auction house, but putting money into WS could definitely give advantage during leveling and immediately at cap.

I agree that an MMO can thrive on box plus $15 sub. After all, that's WoW's model.
However, they are wanting the option for players to buy game time for gold via the CX, while also providing a legal (and profitable for Carbine) means of buying gold for real money. They have declined to comment on anything else that could be eventually bought, but EVERYTHING that costs gold in game could be bought indirectly anyway. So I don't see the big deal of cutting out that gold middleman and just buying some stuff directly. I would prefer that anything bought with money also be attainable through in game means, but as long as it doesn't provide meaningful benefits, I really don't care.
