Your Name:
Chad L. Southerly
How old are you?
25
Do you have any friends in the guild? If so, who?
No
Main Character
Subject to change, but my main character will either be a support based Norn Warrior or a stealth/clone based Human Mesmer.
Character Name:
Warrior - Most likely some variation of Xaphrael
Mesmer - Maximilian Solstrum
Race
Norn or Human
Class
Warrior or Mesmer
What role do you wish to play in the guild? For example: PvP, PvE, Casual/Social
I tend to like to do a bit of everything. PvP if I feel competitive (both sPvP and WvWvW), PvE if I'm looking to relax, and crafting when I get O.C.D. about it. Not sure why, but I always have an insatiable urge to max out crafting. Reaching 525 Mining, Engineering, First Aid, Cooking, Fishing and Archeology on a single character in WoW way more satisfying than hitting 85 or completing x dungeon or y raid or getting z item.
Which previous MMO's or online games have you played and how long for?
I have tried a lot of MMOs only for a month or two so to shorten this, I'm just going to list what I have played for at least 3 consecutive months. If you prefer, just let me know and I can fully expand the list to include everything.
Ragnarok Online - 2 years.
World of Warcraft - Off and on for 6 - 7 years
Lord of the Rings Online - Off and on for 5 - 6 years
Warhammer Online - 6 Months
Star Wars: The Old Republic - 4 Months
Were you a part of a guild? What was your experience?
In vanilla WoW, I was the Healing Officer in my guild. I managed our raid healers, tracked their dkp/attendence/etc, and consoled fresh lv 60 paladins about their fate in raids. When Burning Crusade came out, I switched factions and created a new guild on a brand new server. I managed this guild through most of BC, the last half of Wrath and the first half of Cataclysm. During that gap between BC and Wrath, my guild temporarily merged with another guild, the Warmongers, for Warhammer Online where I was the Raid Officer. I really wish that game had been better, because it was a fantastic guild.
How did you hear about the Guild?
I frequent GW2 Guru and they featured one of your streams. I was already guild shopping, so I thought to investigate further.
What will you bring to the ALTTABME community? (Chatty? Skilled? Funny? Helping?)
I'm not really a super chatty type, but I do believe I am skilled and helpful. I've been gaming for the last two decades so I certainly hope I have developed a general skill at video games at some point. I, also, tend to be an obsessive researcher so I usually know a lot about the game and classes I play and have no problem sharing when asked. Finally, as previously mentioned, I am a crafter so you can expect me to max out at least some of the crafting trades. General rule of thumb: I will craft things for guildies for free but at my pace. In other words, it'll get done at no charge but done when I feel like getting the mats. Now, if the guildie is willing/able to provide some of the mats or I have all the mats handy, that's a different story. I'll probably start out with armor/weaponsmithing, but if I notice a hole in the guild's crafting that needs to be filled, I'll probably switch to fill it.
Side note: When I see ALTTABME typed like that I keep thinking it's some kind of acronym and spend the next few seconds trying to figure out what it means. "What could it mean? Adventure Loving Table Toppers And Binary Machine Experts?" After a few seconds, I have my "Oh... right" moment.
Will Arcanix be the only guild you join?
Currently, I am in another guild, however, I am looking for a new home and do not plan to stay with them. Their "guild pride" (read: obnoxious and baseless elitism) and expectation of hours for members to play has rubbed my fiancée and I in the wrong way. Other than that, I may create my WoW guild in GW2, but this would be as a social side guild and not as a guild for the sake of progressing, if that makes sense.
Is there anything else you would like to throw in here at the end?
Currently, I am an Active Duty Bioenvironmental Engineering Technician in the U.S. Air Force. I am also going to school part time; majoring in Comp Sci. When I'm not doing that, I have a wedding to plan with my beautiful fiancée (though don't let this statement fool you; she does far more work toward the wedding than I do...). This is me letting you know in advance that, although I expect it to be a great game and plan to play it a lot, GW2 is far from my top priorities. If you are looking for people that can make serious time commitments, then you should go ahead and deny this application. That said, scheduled events (say, getting the guild together for a set WvWvW time) should be okay with enough heads up.
Lastly, my fiancée will also be applying to the guild. We are a bit of a two-for-one deal as in either we'll both join or neither will. I don't expect this to be a problem, but I am just forewarning you.
