Kurt stood dumbfounded as the woman's head just disappeared beneath the monster's fist. Slowly at first but then in a rush the words of the Captain sunk in and he sprang into action. He encouraged those around him to retreat as he made his way through the last of the crowd; a panicked mess of people would just get killed but going back into the bunker forever wasn't an option. If any of these people were going to have a chance then someone would have to deal with this... thing.

Drawing his pistol, Kurt strafed sideways and away from the others, trying to pull the creature's attention from them.

"Hey ugly!", he shouted.

Kurt took a few shots as he cleared the group, and hoped all this waiting wasn't for nothing.

Jack was slipping through the crowd, almost to the front when heard a deafening roar followed by screams. He looked towards the commotion to see the Captain flying through the air, thrown by some sort of monstrous creature.

"Well this day is getting off to a fantastic start!", he exclaimed sarcastically to no one in particular as the crowd began to panic. Jack broke through the people and slid behind a pile of rubble for cover as the crowd ran for the safety of the bunker. He leaned out behind the rubble to get a better look at what was going on. The creature had just finished pummeling a woman into bloody pulp when he noticed someone running towards the creature. The young man, who seemed to be close to his age, was directing people back into the bunker as he pulled out a pistol and shot at the monster. What the fuck does this idiot think hes going to do with a pistol?, Jack thought to himself. Maybe if he mangles the legs...

Jack sighed deeply as he stowed his backpack in the pile of concrete he was hiding behind and checked his shotgun once more time, glad he had loaded slugs today. He began to move quickly through the rubble to the creatures left as he attempted to get into a flanking position, still trying to decide whether he actually wanted to help this guy and the Captain.

Who the hell decided to usher these people out a bunker into a nuclear wasteland without getting a sitrep on the surroundings?
Jack's mind was screaming at him that this was the worst idea he ever had as he slipped behind a pile of scrap to the creature's left side and began watching the fight unfold, waiting for the right moment....

Max stared in disbelief at the monstrosity. He scrambled to his feet. "I thought the nuke killed everything," he though frantically as he looked hopelessly around him. The bat in his hand seemed like a useless toy now. Should he run? He wanted to help, but what could he do? He stood rooted to the spot in desperate uncertainty, hoping for someone to give him direction.

He heard the shots ring out from Kurt's pistols.

"I guess we are fighting." Max sprinted to Kurt, stopping behind him, unsure of what to do next.

As the creature roared, the bullets from one sole gunman just seemed to make it even more berserk as it is flailed like a child being pinched for acting up. In its frantic rage it threw the remains of the woman at the members of the group who just stood in disbelief. It looked as if it were about to charge the group. The two men who ran up to it were seen as a challenge to its territory, eyes turning even more red. The Captain had regained her bearings at this point and was in a full sprint while yelling in a firm tone, "You MUST RETREAT to the bunker! Go now, go to the armory! Get the biggest weapons you can find! We need to take this down!"

The Captain stood between Kurt, the group, and the monster almost within arms reach of the beast and close enough to push down on Kurts pistol to lower it, acknowledging in moments his bravery, but doing her best to make him understand with a gesture that it would be his demise. She seemed un-phased by this turn of events in a rush of adrenaline to keep the group safe. Some might even say she looked crazier than the beast.

((You must either ignore the captain and face the monster head on or head into the bunker to re-arm))

That push from the captain was all Max needed. He turned and RAN towards the bunker as fast as he could, which thanks to his baseball conditioning was pretty fast in the sprint. The promise of big guns excited him a little. Even though his experience with fire arms was limited to COD (at which he was mediocre at best), he figured pointing and shooting wouldn't be too difficult. Especially against the monstrosity facing them now. Max darted into the bunker and scanned around for supplies.

Well, shit. If bullets are ineffective, what good would knives do? Cid looked in disgust at his now mediocre assortment of weapons. Even if I can manage to get high enough to go for its eyes, the fall alone could kill me. Unless, perhaps, there was a way to bring it down to our level. In its blind rage it would be easily susceptible to a trap, especially if that guy over there keeps pissing it off. Cursing, Cid slinked back to the bunker in search of some way to bring the beast down, if not kill it outright.

"Armory huh?", thought Kurt aloud.

He quickly looked down at his pistol and then to the creature.

"Yeah... that sounds good."

Turning to run back towards the bunker, Kurt began to realize just how much things had changed.

The Captain got to the door with only a few of the original members still alive. Turning back to see the creature standing over a pile of rubble. Smelling out the area. Someone was behind the cinderblocks!

The Captain turned to those at the entrance and yelled, "Everyone fire everything you have at it!" She then turned to the pile of rubble, "Whoever is there run when we begin to shoot!"

Jack was watching the beast preparing to attack the two men that now stood in front of it when the Captain came to and ran over to the men, ordering them to retreat back to the bunker. As they retreated, Jack saw the creature turn in his direction. This is what I get for trying to help these assholes, he lamented to himself. He began to slink back through the rubble, slowly moving towards the bunker, as the creature tried to follow through the rubble. It seemed to know the area he was in but it didn't see him clearly.

It must have a better sense of smell than sight, Jack thought. I need just enough space to jump through those bunker doors before they close so move damnit, he yelled in his head....

Fire what?

Max considered throwing his bat, but that wouldn't do any good. Besides, he liked his bat.

He grabbed a shotgun from a shelf and turned the business end towards the monster. That much he knew from COD. He closed his eyes and pulled the trigger, flinching back from the recoil.... that never came. Max opened his eyes and spotted the box of shells, also on the shelf. COD hadn't covered this. He grabbed the box, spilling half the shells in his haste, and realized it was useless. He had no idea how to load the gun. Maybe he should throw the bat after all.

((The environment in the bunker hasn't been described other than there being weapons of some sort, so Im improvising))

The Captain looked at the team as they haphazardly shot and dropped their weapons stumbling in the face of fear and pressure. She wondered if this was what it would always be like. If she was given this resistance because of the incident. She then remembered the times when she used to do laundry duty in boot camp. The smell of the burning heaters for the over sized driers... She thought of the way the world used to look. She thought of the world burning. The smell of burning. She thought of a hundred things as she looked to see if the poor attempt to distract the creature had worked.

The Captain thought to herself, "Holy shit... it worked." The creature turned towards them for what seemed like seconds allowing Jack the window he needed to get to safety.

The Captain shouted, "HELP ME SHUT THESE FUCKING DOORS!"
Most had never heard her scream, let alone curse.

As the doors began to close, you could still see the remaining refugees that didn't make it being thrown around like rag dolls, swatted liked flys, flicked like paper footballs scoring a goal of blood and gore.

The Captain turned to the remaining refugees and with what could be confused with tears in her eyes, became clear quickly that it was rage, "Stay here and hide... or let me give you a victory... let me show you for what may only be minutes in this world that has evolved into god knows what, what it feels like to be free. I can't do this alone, but I will try rather than stay in this hole any longer. So it is up to you, eat your last rations a coward or come with me and live to die in the sunlight!" With this, the Captain headed towards the armory.

(( The Bunker consists of three major rooms: Sewage drain/the bathroom, triage style cots laid out as a place to sleep, and the mess hall, food locked behind a cage and some benches to sit. The one smaller room was the "command center" and the "armory". The armory has some serious equipment, most left behind in the first venture. ))

((
Is this cot your style, Tr1age?

))

Max wasn't sure if he was more stunned by the gorefest going on outside or the Captain's sappy "do or die" outburst. He gathered up the loose shotgun shells off the floor as best he could and hurried to follow the Captain into the armory. He really hoped she hadn't noticed how useless he had been. He made a note to learn how to use a gun as soon as possible. Maybe that Kurt guy could help him out? Though between him and Jack, it was a tossup over who was less approachable.

((So I have a feeling we need to kill it with fire, but, am not sure how much freedom we're allowed as far as weaponry and the environment. Or maybe something to do with the sewers? (Cid cringes in utter horror. :p) Don't want to go all god-mode making stuff up. D: ))

The Captain was now in the Armory looking over the biggest weapons they had. She thought to herself, "This is not enough.. how the hell can we bring this thing down?" She continued to look around seeing some PvC piping, gun powder, a rocket launcher with no ammunition, 5 grenades, a flash bang, two smoke grenades, a satchel of dynamite, a flame thrower that was about one or two bursts full due to using it to fight back the waves of dead when they first arrived and the gas being siphoned to generate the facility when they extended their stay in this nightmare... She looked desperately again and mumbled to herself, "We have fucking fireworks but no rockets..."

This looked hopeless. She stood there with those who followed her waiting for guidance. She felt their eyes on her, but she just didn't know what to do.

But there was no choice, they would have to make due!

She turned to everyone and said, "Drop EVERYTHING you have that isn't a weapon, we are going to need all of this if we hope to get out of here." As she was saying this she removed all her gear that wasn't meant to cut, shoot, or kill. She almost seemed more calm with only weapons at her side. She then put the flame thrower on her back and looked to the rest of them to follow suit.

((have fun Tulz))

Max looked over the array of weaponry, and to his surprise, he got an idea.

"Hey guys, I think we have everything we need here too make some serious pipe bombs. If we cap the end of a PCV with duct tape, fill it full of gunpowder, and make a few holes to stick some blasting caps... I guess there are no blasting caps. But wait! We can set it off with a grenade! If we use it to plug the other end with more duct tape, it will make a better ignition than the blasting caps anyway. That could be enough to kill that thing. Or at least disable it."

Max stopped talking quickly when he saw the others looking at him. He hoped he had made sense.

((I'm not the only one here that made pipe bombs as a teenager, am I?))

Jack had just enough time to grab his bag and roll through the bunker doors as they closed shut behind him. As he dusted himself off he got up and followed the Captain and some of the other inhabitants of the bunker to the armory.

Man what I'd give to be back on base with a real armory, he lamented as he looked around the desolate room. Some black powder and a few grenades were really the only things worth mentioning in the old room. As Jack looked at the other items in the roomone of the other members suggested making pipe bombs.

"Its a good idea, but you need more than just duct tape to cap the ends.", Jack said. "That and you need to pick someone with a throwing arm. This could work, or we could just be blowing ourselves up in style."

"I've got the arm, and I've made similar things before, though I guess a lot less powerful. What do you think, Captain?"

The Captain seemed shocked at the suggestions put before her. She smiled and nodded as to approve this idea. She then began to get to work on building the "bombs". She mentioned as she hefted the gun powder box to the table, "We will have to take down its hard outer shell first, hopefully this thing has enough juice to melt it away." She looked over her shoulder to the extremely empty flamethrower.

Kurt felt uneasy with the talk of pipe bombs; he'd seen their work before. After a moment though he began to feel silly worrying over such a small thing when such a big thing was trying to bash his brains in. He walked into the armory reaching for his wire saw.

"I've ah... got something to cut the PVC if we're looking to make something manageable." He says to no one in particular.

Kurt eyed the kid with them... Max he thinks he remembers hearing someone call him. Images flash through his memory; a blur of motion.

"You... you sure you got this Max?" He almost whispers.

((We are waiting on you guys here to work together to build the bombs or whatever you are doing BTW :p ))
