Wildstar [Poll] For the Horde... er Exiles... err... Dominion!?!?!

Which do you want to Rally Cry for?

Through the course of the game (hopefully years upon years of fun gameplay and raiding with friends/guildies), there's going to come a point where people (NPCs) on both sides realize they're stuck living/dealing with each other. Now whether that'll happen at launch as you level up or take more time and patches to take that route, it's going to have to be like that. Just like in WoW.. Sure, they didn't want the Alliance or Horde crossing their lines but there were definitely multiple intentions from each faction. Some would act as if they were part of the other side and some were more open minded and refused to. The general attitudes are certainly there but if Carbine listens to players anywhere near as much as they are right now (or are smarter than what most are giving them credit for right now), things could be a bit different in the actual game. I'm not claiming to be right or all knowing, just keep an open mind.

Are these polls in place asking if you're Military or Anti-Military? Or are they for which races you would actually enjoy playing and seeing and partying up with? (Also destroying)

I'm just going to throw these back in here for emphasis... Belial give these a re-watch.

Everyone is on a new planet and everyone is going to have some sort of freedom.. I'm pretty sure there's going to be "bad" Exiles that want to treat the Dominion like they're the Dominion.. I'm also pretty sure there's going to be quests and such for the Dominion that let you choose how things turn out, so you could be more "Exile"-like.

One could role-play something like his, that is true. But is it in the game? I don't know. That just doesn't seem to fit the whole faction battle though. But again, who knows, you may be right. There very well could be some form of "goody" transformation on the dominion side, but couldn't that argument also be said for the Exiles? Couldn't you then play an evil Granok that is hell-bent on destruction?

You guys pushing this whole nazi thing is kinda dumb. There aren't structured governments on the planet yet and I'm sure the devs will abuse that for players who picked a side and don't really agree with how that side is portrayed.

That one is my bad. I'm the one who first stated that the dominion are Nazi-esque. I should have been more blunt in just saying the Cassian's are nazi-esque. Y'know, the whole master race thing. The first 30 seconds of the Dominion video is pretty much my first exposure, and it sunk in since the first viewing. And quite honestly, there hasn't been anything that' been said to persuade my opinion. I'm actually going to take a quick snippet from the most recent wildstar wednesday drop -

The controversial Vigilant Declaration also led to an unexpected class and racial divide between highborn and lowborn Cassians. Highborn Cassians were those who could trace their lineage to the one or more of the Great Luminai houses, and therefore had trace amounts of Eldan blood in their veins. Lowborn Cassians could not. This divide among Cassian humans still exists today, and continues to serve as the foundation for many Dominion social and political systems.

Also.. what's with everyone trying to convince everyone that their side is better? Dominion could be a bunch of fairies for all I care but if the RACES are cool and fit me, that's where I want to go. Are they really going to keep you from being an asshole and an Aurin? Are they really going to keep you from being a nice peaceful Draken or misunderstood Mechari? I guess we'll find out but I sure as hell hope not.

The point of this is discussion. We're here to discuss our views. You should know this by now :) Your statement could be viewed as propaganda just as much as the next person. I'm fine with that too, it keeps things heated and moving. Not everyone is out to project their views onto others. Some people really just want to discuss the topic at hand. <3

I really doubt there is a moral spectrum here, if you are speaking of questing choices. There may be a few quests that have a "You can blow them up or secretly persuade them to move" type things but I highly doubt there will be anything close to your character actually being an asshole on say, the Exiles by choice.

If you mean just in chat stuff well then anything goes.

Was this before or after the cameraman gets punched in the face for the Exile chick's hatred for the Dominion? Is there also going to be people within the Exile that are just tired of the fighting? Not wanting to approach the Dominion as if they themselves are the Dominion and hellbent on destroying things?

I like the races and aesthetics of the Dominion, but I prefer the anti-authoritarian motivations of the Exiles. My main would be human either way, though, so I'll just end up joining whatever you guys decide. If there is the option to be more of a "light-side" Dominion character, that would put me fully in their camp.

At least she asked if he was ok :)

I thought you post was referring to your own characters actions/choices, not those of NPC's. I'm sure NPC wise there will be variety as you state.

Why wouldn't there also be for your character? Who knows that if you roll a Cassian you get to choose whether you're a high blood or a low blood and kind of decide if you're one of the uppity assholes or someone of lower class with more understanding for how the universe should work.

Edit: That's not a dominion argument, I was just using that as an example since it's the most relevant form I know of.

I would imagine there's also some sort of split within the Draken as well though.. those that wish to keep their old way of things going and those that embrace the ways of the Dominion.

I think all of the Exile is going to be split as a whole though on how to approach situations.

I fully agree here, I definitely see quest options here that allow you to better 'role-play' your... um... Class Alignment? (cant think of another phrase) the way you want it to. Much like GW2 lets you pick a few deciding factors in your character creation. No reason there can't be a lawful good and chaotic good Mechari on the same side of the 'war'. Given the way the last few MMO's have gone, I'd be very surprised if Carbine didn't allow the players to further shape their character with some personal questions of morality/limits.

But let's get real, the real winner is going to be whichever side has the best set of dance moves. If Mechari's are going to teach me how to douggie, then god damn it, I'm gonna learn to douggie

This! Thread Locked! (I'm not a mod so don't believe me but IF I was, I'd be sold on that)

See I think it's their lack of humor in a humorous world that will lend itself best to hilarious situations

This is what I was thinking. The world is goofy and funny to begin with, so the robots taking everything seriously will just add to the humor. :p

This! .. and /sleep! /sleep is an important one, as I'm lazy (and made Charr full of win in GW2)

One thing I've always wanted to see in an MMO is a fun/interesting faction-switching system. In WoW you can just straight up buy a faction changed, but that forces you to pick a race of the other faction. What I'm talking about is being able to switch faction but maintain your same character race.

Who's to say that there won't be defectors from the Dominion or from the Exiles? In an RP sense, I'm sure there would be Granock who realize their personal views are more inline with the Dominion, therefore they'd like to defect and join them. So, they could give people a really long and difficult quest chain (that can only be done once or something, so people don't do it constantly) to switch factions. Then you could roll a Mechari and go through that quest chain, to convert them to the Exiles. RP-wise, it could totally make sense and fit in with the story and lore. To use an example that's been in this thread already -- Not every single German actually believed the same thing as the Nazis. So maybe not every single Mechari believes the same thing as the Dominion? :p

I generally choose my faction based on what my friends/guild are playing and choose my race based on the one I like the looks of the most. :p If I could have the ability to do both without compromise, that would be awesome.

I think that could be cool if they added some kind of 'defector' optional quest line you have to unlock or something so that people wouldn't just be doing it all willy-nilly and such. Something to make it a challange to switch!

How cool would it be if all us robot-lovers leveled together and then we all defected to the exiles and rejoined our comrades? haha

Didn't EQ2 have a faction change or something? Or alignment change? I remember listening to a podcast about it and being a Troll Paladin or something and it being taboo. I dunno, I never really looked into EQ2 personally.

But the closest one to have the tail curb motion would be the Aurin lol

Incorrect, sir. I give you.. TAILS! :D
