I want to take a little poll for those who are interested in Wildstar.

I get a real sense that this is the FIRST game that has got the WoW kiddies up in arms. That being said I feel like this may be the first time a lot of WoW players have come up for Air to see another MMO.

So let's see, Which MMO are you coming from?

If you pick First MMO since WoW, please explain why, I am curious.

Played EQ for many years, then WoW for its full life with a small break for Gw2. With all the hate WoW gets, I find it to be the most polished and I feel its controls / movement is very smooth - something that a lot of MMOs can't seem to get right. I always find myself comparing the control / movement of the character in games to WoW. If Wildstar has this right, then I think the rest will fall into place. (Seems to have the end game other MMOs fail on besides WoW)

I always call Blizzard the Apple of MMO's. May not be the most revolutionary shit, but the shit it does touch FEELS great. Fuck haters :)

That sounds absolutely dead on. My Iphone is 500x smoother and efficient than the android I had lol.

Uh oh, lets not start an Android vs IPhone debate haha. I have played many MMOs between WoW and this, however I do feel this to be my first REAL MMO since WoW. I haven't been able to settle down, and I do feel WoW set the standard pretty high in a lot of ways. It really comes down to their focus on the elder game content, as well as the community for me (since these are key for a long term commitment, at least for me). So yeah, not my first since WoW, but if we were to equate this to girlfriends, it's the first girl that's ever made me really start to forget about WoW (my only real long term MMO relationship)

WoW did that for me with UO. But god I will always miss the times we had, in a sick twisted, beat myself up, highschool shit ups and downs relationship kinda way.

Haha, I'm sad I didnt get to experience UO at a time when it probably would have hit me the same way

I only left WoW because money and time were both incredibly tight and I couldn't justify it anymore. I didn't go back because the game has changed (or perhaps my preferences have changed) to the point that it doesn't appeal to me anymore.

I have to agree with you, Vanilla and Burning Crusade were my favorites but now WoW just doesn't have the same affect on me and when i play I remember how fun it used to be

It's funny because oddly enough UO still has the same effect on me. Every-time I log in I just wanna play forever. Just the difference between themepark and sandbox I think.

yeah I've never been big on the sandbox games I like having that feeling of the third person view where you can kinda put yourself more into the world. I never tried UO though and I might just have to check it out, but I'm downloading Smite right now lol

UO for anyone who didn't grow up with it would be the worst idea ever to try to play now haha. Also why do Sandbox games have to be first person?

haha so stay away from it, good advice, I think I screwed up, I didn't mean all sandbox games i meant I like it when the sandbox games are third person, instead of the view where you are like god controlling your minions lol

I agree 3rd person is my preferred method of viewing. I even like the angle down approach.

This is kind of the trap that we fall into, though. We remember all these great things about WoW even though it was so far from perfect and often frustrating at time. At the moment, I don't think vanilla WoW would be a WoW killer or even considered a viable alternative. The landscape and player expectations have changed so much from 10 years ago.

I'm remembering that line from Watchmen where a character says that the past, even the grimy parts of it, keep getting brighter and brighter.

I'm in no way trying to minimize our memories. I just don't think that anything could compete with them, even WoW.

Lack of Rift choice is depressing. I really thought it was a great MMO, even as a F2P. I selected Guild Wars 2 because that is the most recent MMO that I've played.

To be honest I forgot about it. Could select other. :) Plus rift was kinda in the age of conan days, meaning it has already died out and no one plays it on a regular basis anymore, even if it was fun, that isn't what the poll was asking.

You all are spoiled with your WoW and UO. I came from MUDs. All sandbox, all text, no fucks given. You want a hard mode MMO experience? Play a MUD.
