I'm curious about which comic universe is preferred here.

Vote for your favorite, and then explain why. Are there certain characters that you prefer? Is it the art, the writing, the movies?

If you prefer a different company, tell us about that, too.

This is actually a tough call for me since I'm a big fan of heroes on both sides. I end up having to go with Marvel though. Spider-Man wins my favorite hero, though Batman is right there behind him.

I also like the Marvel company-wide events. Secret Wars has always been a favorite of mine, and the more recent Civil War was amazing as well. DC does Infinite Crisis, which is cool n concept, but really confusing.

I tend to like nearly all Marvel heroes, but there are only a few DC ones I do like (Martian Manhunter mainly) and I especially loathe superman in the pit of my stomach. I tend to like the art of Marvel better as well, but I do like the Batman books. I love the Civil War, and all the directions that marvel usually takes. My favourite superhero is definitely Iron Man, I like Tony Stark a lot as a character.

Why is there no choice for "no idea which are which, therefore just like the ones in movies". :p

DC gets my vote. Swamp Thing and Solomon Grundy are my reasons. Animal Man's current run also has the best art I've seen in a long time, and it fits the book so well.

I don't know anything about Swamp Thing. I think Grundy is a zombie of some sort?

In a nutshell, Grundy is a Mobster Zombie made of swamp, and Swamp thing is a walking swamp made of zombie scientist...more or less. Kinda makes me think sweet is gonna roll a mordesh.

Granok, actually! I just really like the sad, monstrous creature angle. Frankenstein is pretty dope, too. (The movie, not the book. God the book was boring.)

I am a Marvel fanboy all the way. I started collecting comics in 1992 and kept it up for 10 or 12 years. Now I read them digitally.

DC does all kinds of goofy crap and alternate universes and stupid stuff like that to fix problems with bad writing and continuity. Its fine to have an alternate universe if you keep it as an alternate universe. What DC does is just re-write everything and say this is now cannon just because one writer doesn't like what another did in the past. There are some characters that I like and will read but overall DC runs their comic properties wrong imo.

Marvel has always had more compelling storylines and character development. I am a huge X=Men fan from way back and there are other ip's that I get into and out of. They do a better job of keeping the whole universe in tact by seeming to have one over reaching deciding voice that won't let individual writers get too far out into left field and break stuff other people have written before.

Marvel all the way! I only got really interested in comics about 2 years ago but Deadpool pretty much guarantees my vote. Marvel also just seems more down to earth then the all powerful Superheroes and villains in DC. Plus watching the Hulk rampage is a guilty pleasure of mine.

This is always a fun debate, unless you are talking about it with someone who really knows their comic books and will destroy any argument you have either way. I chose Marvel based on the characters in their universe and the more recent movie adaptations vs DC. I don't think I have enough understanding of either universe to really comment intellectually.

Marvel has been doing their movies right lately. They took over the final say on scripts and edits so that the director or writers couldn't go crazy and make movies that didn't reflect the feel of their writing.

I have always said, why do writers and directors have to change the stories and plot lines of a comic book? It is already written well and they go and change it to put their mark on it? That's crap. Iron Man 1 was one of the best comic movies of all time, if not the best. That had everything to do with Marvel comics getting last say in the decisions.

Although, I'm not sure how I feel about Marvel's future now that they are owned by Disney. They seem to be staying out of the way of the movies for now, but Disney has a tendency to run things into the ground in the long term.

Anyone else hear they are possibly doing the (D.C. of course) story where batman whoops supermans ass?

Comic con San Diego revealed a teaser that there will be a batman/superman movie. It was a single pic, but its happening.

I love Batman/Superman teamups. It's about the only way I can tolerate Superman actually. Big exception here is the Death and Return of Superman run. That's fantastic, but I digress...

I haven't seen The Man of Steel, but my experience with Superman movies are that they are bad. Disappointingly so. The Chris Reeves Superman movies are only good for the nostalgia, they wouldn't work today. Batman, however, has made several fantastic movies, excluding the Batman and Robin debacle of course.

So I'm worried that Superman might drag it down instead of Batman bringing it up. Or would we end up with a big meh?

I personally thought the man of steel was garbage, so yeah. But it really depends on who they get for batman because if it is the one where they fight, it would have to be someone older, not to mention the fact that christian bale's contract to be the batman is up.
