First Impressions

There's also an interactive map someone linked with positioning to /loc. That'll probably be more useful.

Blah. Now it's just everyone has a bow and arrow and is camping areas and just immediately shooting with no warning. Been killed so many times when looting cars or looking in houses. Twice just spawning in today.

Think I'm getting to the point where I'm just not good at the pvp aspect of this game compared to others.

I think it is at the point where people need more incentive to work together. As is zombies pose no threat.

I have found that you have to be careful approaching houses and roads. I usually get in visual distance then stop and watch for movement. After that I get close enough to hear footsteps (and be heard) then I crouch and slowly make my way near. People tend to think the slower walking pace from crouching is a zombie or deer. If the coast is still clear then I run in and loot stuff on counters or tops of things like dressers and counters. Forget cars till they patch today or tomorrow.

If you see someone, or even hear them. RUN. Zig-zag like you are Michael J. Fox trying to draw a straight line, and you should survive.

Yeah, I've gotten pretty good at dodging arrows. However, I can never seem to win a fight of fisticuffs.

I did however finally kill someone.

I never really seem to win at one on one fights in pvp either. I am either:
1) getting sniped before I notice someone is there
2) getting ganked by 6 people
3) fighting an even match of bows and/or fists and always losing.

So...yeah. :( lol

Not really. There's a gap barrier that needs to occur where fists overcome bows. If distance is 10+ yards, bows win. If distance is <10 yards, fists win.

While I agree that this should work in theory, the way it is set now...it is REALLY easy to dodge an arrow. Even with the wooden bow, which is faster/more accurate than the makeshift one, you can still get around it while charging a person. Also, the aiming is a bit lacking in this game, so they are disadvantaged once you know their location, because you can dodge, weave, crouch, sprint, etc much faster than they can reload, aim and fire.

Basically, just don't run a straight line screaming "GAAAHHH"

The current purpose of the bow in a 1v1 engagement (not ganking/sniping), is to try to inflict any damage on someone prior to them reaching you. That gives you an advantage in the 1v1 fisticuffs encounter by being able to take more hits than the other person, not by killing before he reaches you.

By aiming at the general area of the person, you are given more opportunities of attack than someone who is not. The bow is used to create an advantageous scenario. Someone with bow has an advantage to someone without a bow. Also, if your opponent then also decides to flee, you have the opportunity to strike without chasing.

That's very true. But the amount of times I get hit with an arrow when I am coming at them, intentionally dodging, has been very very minimal. I only ever seem to get hit with a bow if I am fleeing or unaware that they are there.

Once I get up to them one on one though, I never seem to win. It always feels like my movements are way jerkier/flailing than other peoples. Or maybe they just have more precision than me. Lol

One thing that does seem to be true is that you can't just spam the punch button, you need to time it better for secondary punches. Just spam clicking causes a lag in your punches.

Yeah it's definitely not a spamming game. Even without the combo system, it rewards you for being strategic with hits. But I still feel like I can't ever get my aim on someone, by the time I click and it registers and I see my person punch, the enemy has already moved. Yet for me, no matter how much I circle, I get knocked out quick.

Guess it's time for more practice. :p
