I know I wouldn't say for more than a week. Sorry ;(. But I hope to see lots of screenshots of your adventures. Game is pretty.

I bought it for a crafting fix. You can gather and craft all the way to cap level without combat. That's my plan.

I hope to come back within the first fourty-eight hours (48) and write an opinion piece about my experience in the game. I may not be able to provide screenshots, but if it's a good or bad experience, I'd like for people to know so they can formulate their own opinion and decide if they want to try it or not!

Right now, it's looking like I'll try to pull an all nighter through the first day. The 4 AM CST release time for early access is going to be a horrible wait. It should have been 12:01 for everyone, based on a distinct time zone in a server region - such as 12:01 am PST for the NA server region..that way I'd only have to wait until 2 AM.

There is a counter I found: http://arrstatus.com/ for early access and standard release.

lol I'm pretty confident that if you last A week, you are pretty much staying. By that time you won't feel that uncomfortable about the GCD and are probably into the more challenging content by then (past lv.15) and sucked in by the crafting and multi-class system... etc... besides that... when is WS comming again? yeah...

well that's my guess, if not then I'll keep up the pretty pretty screenies.[DOUBLEPOST=1377298198,1377297617][/DOUBLEPOST]oh and one more thing, pretty important DO YOUR LOW LEVEL QUESTS on your prefferred class as these are NOT repeatable and you will need the exp so make them count.... I've played a bit any questions you may have IF I can help I'd be more than happy to help you out, but don't expect to play with anyone really that much before level 15.

I'm really debating purchasing a subscription. If I do, I think I want to be on a brand new server and not a legacy server. Is there an established server Alttabme players will be on?

Gilgamesh, a non-legacy server I believe.

Im going to be on an eu server with a buddy for launch. Chances are, he won't play after 2 weeks, so I'll be on Gilgamesh after that.

Sooooo torn on this one... It's going to be a while before either EQ Next or Wildstar, so it's either this or a return to GW2 for my MMO fix.

Ok so I just bought the game, got my confirmation e-mail and code and having errors when trying to register it. Is the game open to download yet or we have to wait?

Error 3: There was a problem. Please try again later

Guess I'll try tomorrow... Thinking I have to redeem code before download is allowed. Hope so atleast.

I purchased the pre-order about two weeks ago, so my experience may be different than yours. If it wasn't for help I received here and reading up on the game over on the reddit subforum, I'd be lost. The information spread and navigation on the main site is horrible - something I hope they fix in the coming days or weeks after launch.

As I recall, I went to the pre-order website from SE and picked up a standard digital PC copy of the game (I'm looking to just try it since I'm ambivalent towards the FF series. If I'd been a fan, I'd have gotten the CE). Although I didn't sign up for an account (Square Enix) at that point, I immediately received a receipt in my email attached to the order and a link to download a PDF.

On that receipt were a number of different numbers, but most importantly, near the bottom was a temporary redemption code eighteen (18) digits in length. After downloading the PDF, I was incredibly confused as to what to do - there wasn't much information in the PDF, except what I think now was the code redemption website.

At this point I remember attempting to try to sign up for an account on the Square Enix site, but encountered a number of problems. After two days of trying to get my request sent, it was finally accepted.

After a few days of not really thinking about it and trying to find information, I found on reddit a post detailing some instructions with the preorder code. At the time, SE's preorder redemption site was having some major problems and I was unable to redeem my code for two or three days. Fortunately, I had success redeeming the temporary code and was given access to the permanent twenty (20) digit pre order, early access code.

After inputting the early access code in my account, I finally received a download link to the release client and I've been happy ever since. I hope this works for you, as I may be missing a step or two. It's a very messy process. Ultimately, I encourage you to read up on the ffxiv subreddit (you may have to scanover fifteen or twenty pages, but you'll find what you need).

TL;DR
  • Sign up for a SE account.
  • Purchase game. Immediately receive PDF download and receipt in your email inbox.
  • The receipt contains a temporary-redemption code which is eighteen (18) digits long.
  • Go to http://preorder.na.finalfantasyxiv.com (google to make sure that's it). Redeem eighteen (18) digit code.
  • Receive a twenty (20) digit code to register under your account in the SE main site.
  • Receive download link to most release client. Install game and patch.

I received error 1 and error 3 continuously while trying to redeem my temporary code (the 18 digit one). I'm sorry you're having to deal with this because it's a real pain not knowing. This was the biggest wait and downside for me while trying to get my client ready. It might be that there are a lot of people who have opted in last minute and the website is getting flooded with requests. I would think the hours immediately following early release (4 AM CST) will be less stressful.

If you had the energy and really, really wanted to try to get in in the next five and a half hours or so, I'd keep trying the code until it worked. The game is about an hour and a half to two hours to download/install with a medium speed broadband connection ...and a mid-upper tier PC.

yeah we had that error over a few days, its just server load... hopefully it'll go down in time... you can still download the client even if you haven't registered your code. (don't have a link atm sorry, i'm at work)

I'll ask for a Linkshell invite when I get home!
Please remember, a Linkshell is just a Private chat channel it has limited functionality. "Guilds" are called Free companies and seeing as we are very few we might just want to keep it to a Linkshell for now and join a Free company later on. Or if TAB actually ends up taking enough interest in the game afterall and we get a good steady group, a FC might not be out of the question then.

Ahh, I'd heard those phrases before...I knew Free Company 'sounded' like the equivalent of guild but, I never really thought much of 'Linkshells' in the game.

This experience is going to be almost entirely new for me.

I understand a little about Jobs, classes and slightly less about the crafting system. Will the game make it evident which classes lead to which jobs (I couldn't find anything on the main site)? I've come across a few fan sites describing class prerequisites, but I also came across a rumor that there are supposedly a ton of jobs that we just don't know about. Is this true? If so, will they be player found or will there be a guide to 'building' jobs in the game via ... some npc?

That aside, who following this thread tonight will be attempting to get into the game at early access launch in four hours?[DOUBLEPOST=1377320900,1377320770][/DOUBLEPOST]Oh! I've noticed that everyone seems to have an 'RP' appropriate name from the screenshots revealed to the public - is there some kind of naming device which creates a name for you or aids you and regulates the naming process?
