Wildstar Gyoin's morning after thoughts - 9/6 raid

Alright folks, couple things I want to get off my chest after last nights x-89 attempts.

I screwed up many times in multiple areas, some of these screw ups certainly wiped the raid. I had many issues of positioning and using cooldowns improperly (some more blatantly obvious than others).

Small bomb mishap - obviously that was me being unprepared for the mechanic when working as off tank. I'd like to think I was a little better by the end of the raid, and hopefully that situation will not occur again.

Positioning - there were a couple times I fat fingered bum rush prior to shout in my anticipation of shout. This caused poor placement for both me and the boss, resulting in some poorly timed leaps and cleaves on the party.

Complaining about taunts - this was purely my frustration and having a hard time adapting to mechanics not working properly. I apologize for some of my outbursts (especially since I stated at the beginning if the raid to try to keep outbursts in check). Thanks Talmari for handling this situation as well as you did and working around the adjustments.

I'm apparently a slow learner for new mechanics, so I appreciate you all sticking it out with me for the time I had to tank. There are many things I need to work on (and trust me, spent pretty much the entire night thinking about how I can do better) and hopefully will make fewer mistakes.

That said, this was definitely a wake up call for me to step up my game, both between poor dps (yeah yeah utility) and poor tanking mistakes. I'll get better on both fronts, I promise.

Note: this isn't a pity post, this is simply acknowledging my faults and planning to move forward working on them. This is my reflection process and isn't meant to come as whiny, just a solid reminder that I can be better.

It was a good wake up call for all of us Gyoin, trust me when i say we all learnt (or at least i hope people realized) that we arnt the bees knees yet, and we all have something to work towards. This is a very heavy Tank and Healer focus boss fight, and still us deepers where making silly mistakes and messing up the one mechanic we had to deal with (i know i made an island!). So i hope everyone at least took something from the fight and have given their jobs a serious brain-storm and have come away with an idea on how to improve and seriously limit these little mistakes that were costing us dearly.. Also hopefully dps have realized that pulling high dps is not their only job! hahaha -brucethumbsup-

I did awesome.

But seriously, I think we learned a lot but we were probably all pretty burned out by the end of the fight. I think next time when we go in there fresh we are gonna be able to take him out.

Don't be too hard on yourself. The raids are supposed to be hard. Everyone who raided top content in wow seems to remember how it was once the boss was on farm. Try to remember how hard it was to sometimes get that first kill. I remember in Litch King how it took us about 3 weeks of at least 2 nights of 5 hours of wipes to kill Sindragosa. Ice blocks are hard.

Gyoin I tanked x89 after you left and this both a very fun and very challenging fight for tanks I made the same mistakes with timing bum rush and taunts there is just a ton going on in that fight we have to be watching

It's an incredibly fun fight. So awkward trying to keep the snipe aligned by always looking back, and trying to communicate with the entire raid which direction you're going with it haha. Definitely liked the call-outs for islands and peninsulas, made it worlds easier finding those damn things

Oh and thanks for being big enough to admit your mistakes for the fight I sat there and told the raid a lot of the same things but some people and this just comes with raiding refuse to admit when they are messing up

We all (and I truly mean ALL) have room for improvement.

The general vibe at the end of the raid was negative since this boss truly tested our ability to not only work together and communicate but also execute.

I hope everyone takes a moment to stop blaming other people and reflect on what you yourself could have done better. No one was perfect, so let's all be humble and use this as a growth opportunity.

Cue gym scene from "Mean Girls": Milleuda needs to improve on small bombs, especially when immediately followed by a snipe or a knockback.

/emote fall into a wave of people to catch me!

Milly, are we going to have trust fall exercises at six flags?!

Nothing says friendship like letting your friend fall and still forgiving him XD

I don't think that's how trust falls work.

On this subject, I was perfect and need no improvement. I kid, I kid. I definitely struggled a lot in the beginning, and small bombs still throw me off whenever I get them, but I do feel I ended really close to having that fight down pat, save some of the really bad rng stuff. We will all continue to improve, and I think tomorrow night we have a real shot of downing him within the first couple attempts.

I have lots of good come backs for that one, but I'll just leave it at I've drank EVERYTHING I've been given <3

That's the cool thing about this game, though: We rammed our faces into that boss for like seven straight hours and at no point was I bored with the fight.

I think everybody got a little tired and burnt out and sloppy toward the end (I know I did) and that's to be expected; but let's not lose sight of the fact that our best attempt was like 23% with more than enough platforms left to finish the fight, and that's pretty solid for our first night on this boss. We did very well for a good long while there; and even when we started turning in worse attempts as the night wore on, Ace, Spicy, and the other replacements were able to get valuable experience with the fight. I was pretty impressed with how quickly they figured out the positioning and threat rotation, but I think a lot of us were just too far gone to capitalize on their success at that point.

Still, we're just in execution now. We all know the mechanics, we've all survived to the wipe at least a couple times. We just need that one run where we all get it right at the same time for a few minutes. Then it's on to Kuralak!
