Introduce yourself!

I'll go ahead and throw an actually introduction in the forum labeled so. I am Magg, which I guess is a given. I'm fairly chatty and quite humorous. I am a bit on the vulgar side, make that heavy on the vulgar side. I've played games pretty much the whole existent I've been on this planet. My MMO history contains; Diablo 2, Runescape, Mobinogi, Aeon, WoW, Guild Wars, Silkroads, Warhammer, and DC Universe. I do play all kinds of game though. Currently my games of choice are; DotA 2, Battlefield 3, (some) Black Ops 2, and of course Guild Wars 2.
Being who I am I don't think I could leave out music. Music is a huge part of me and I listen to a LARGE list of it. I tend to shy away from Country music and the majority of Rap. Mostly anything else, I'm game to listen to a few times.
Well, I think that's all I can think of at the current time. But I will leave you with this, enjoy.

Hi guys :) I'm Charlee! I'm a student currently studying animation.
I really like owls, books, quaggan calfs, guild wars 2 (duh!), magic the gathering and doggies!
Really looking to getting to know you guys :) !

By day I am Corey Jones the Personal Banker, but by night I am known as Lewenhart (Lewen). I have only just begun my painstaking plan to corrupt AltTABme from within.

Hello Everyone!

I'm Chris (Corvos) and I'm introducing myself because I fell in love with your community/guild recruitment video posted in /r/guildrecruitment. Your video tugged on all the right strings so I'm definitely looking forward to getting to know more of you and how I can possibly become part of the fun! I'm really into the idea of a community that exists behind the game(s) being played and after perusing your forums a little bit, I have to say that I like what I see!

I'm coming back from a semi extended break from Guild Wars 2 and I just started looking around for a new guild/server because there really isn't anything left for me on Gates of Madness. I'm used to playing games/interacting online with a relatively close knit group of mostly real life friends but as I'm sure a lot of you have gone through at one point or another, a lot of us are in different parts in our lives so that group has become nearly non existent. That being said, definitely interested in joining you fine folks on your quest for fun.

You'll be seeing more of me around here :).

Oh.. and while we're at it, you should probably meet Winston as well:

Welcome Chris! Saw you lurking and glad you posted. I think everyone here has felt the GW2 pain at one point or another. We are all here to play the games that make us happy. Glad to hear you have a new flame lit for the game as well. We all have our ups and downs on that game haha. But that is what we built this community for. To give us a place to chillax from ourselves and with people who hopefully we will know for quite a while to come! Looking forward to more from you.

Welcome to the community Chris (and Winston... omg sooo cute!) -- can't wait to meet you in game or on Mumble. Give a shout if you ever need any help.

I've been around a minute, but I looked at my postings and didn't see an intro here, so here goes!

I'm William, but my friends/family call me BJ ( NO, it's short for Bill Junior). I'm 30 years old and live in Olathe, KS. I have 4 kids (5, 4, 2, new baby). I work in the marketing department of a large insurance company in Kansas City, MO.

I love RPGs (anything by Square) and action/adventure games (Legend of Zelda, ftw!). I also watch copious amounts of Netflix.

I was a WoW guy for several years until I got tired of monthly fees. Tried Diablo 3, but didn't feel the magic. Picked up GW2, alttabme.com, and Arcanix, and new life is found!

Lookin forward to the alttabme SimCity and all the great fun to be had with the community in Tyria.

Hello Alt Tab Me community!

My name is Jason and I've been somewhat "lurking" here for the last few days before I made an account. From what I've seen so far the community here has been really great and there is a lot of info here that has really help me understand how Guild Wars is different. I want to hand out some kudos for the podcast! I watched the first episode "Guild Wars 2 for New Players" which answered SO many questions and I want to really thank Tristan, Bruce, Brian and Jon for doing that! I've also read some of your posts that contained a lot of general info about the game.

I'm brand new to Guild Wars 2 so new that I don't even own the game yet, heh (I haven't decided if I want a CE or regular version yet). I've been a avid gamer for the most of my life playing games since my diaper days and my MMO "career" started back in the release of Dark Age of Camelot (4yrs) and since then I have played Star Wars Galaxies (1yr), World of Warcraft (8yrs), Eve Online(1month) and Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic (2months - sadly bought the collector's edition and felt so burned because that game was disappointed from day 1 :( ).

I've been pretty busy trying to absorb as much info I can on Guild Wars 2 and I think its a game I love, sounds like it has all the great things MMO's offer without the nasty time sinks and things people don't like about MMO's. Although I heard they introduced "daily's"... when WoW introduced those it was a dark day for me.

I plan on joining Yak's Bend, from what I've read the server has a pretty rocking community with less "l33t" kids. Hope to see some of you in game. I'll have to edit this post later with a character name, heh.

TLDR = Great community guys and awesome info for a newbie! Glad to be a member!

Welcome, and GW2 Dailies are nothing like WoW ones.

That is really good to hear. If you don't mind, how are they different?
Today I am going hunting for a copy of GW2. I watched a lot of game play video's on YouTube last night and the questing system sounds awesome compared to what I'm use to, I cant wait!
Turns out they are hard to come by for some reason, called a few places and they are sold out and have been for awhile. They don't know why they haven't had any restock lately.

PS - Is your Mumble server open to the community or just guild members? I'd like to hop on one day and ask a million questions, heh.

From what I remember (I haven't played Cataclysm or Mists of Pandaria), WoW dailies were insanely boring kill #X, find #Y, do #Z quests. At least in TBC and WotLK, they were specific quests that everyday you had to haul your ass out to and do the same thing.

At first in GW2, the dailies were a simple set of 4 tasks that were the same every day: Kill 60 things, Kill 15 different types of things (i.e. bandit, centaur, elemental), gather 20 things, and do 5 dynamic events. It didn't matter what or what level. Okay, sure, it got a little boring after 3 months of it. In the most recent patch they changed 'em up a bit and each day has a different set: http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Daily

The nice thing is that in most cases the things needed for the daily just sort of happen while playing, and you don't have to go flying around to each zone where your dailies are. The rewards are nice and useful for any level. In the upcoming February patch, the daily system is promised to become even more expansive and customizable (you choose the tasks each day).

Wow, that was long.

If you don't want the collector's edition you can buy the game online at the official website. If you do, then...I dunno. :(
