What's new

Kel's new rig proposal

Just placed my first part order with Newegg. I switched up a couple parts to take advantage of Black Friday deals.

G Skill 16GB RAM instead of Corsair. I couldn't see any difference between the 2. Saved $40.

Asus z87-A mobo instead of the PRO V edition model. I didn't see anything the special model added that I needed. Saved $40.

Rosewill 630w power supply. Had good reviews. Not modular, but was listed specifically for the i7 chip. Saved $20.

The li on the first page will show the new build. It's back to right at $1000 total.

I have the same G- Skill Ram and the Rosewill PSU they work great, not sure about the mother board i got the P8Z77 V-Pro, but i think the main differnce is Wifi,Bluetooth, extra USB, SLI 2/3 and some extra software.

that all sounds really solid. those parts should serve you well. let me know if you need any help when it comes assembly time :)

If those are the differences, I'll be OK. I don't need wireless or Bluetooth. Just GB Ethernet.

Everything is ordered now. I picked up the processor from Microcenter, and the rest is being mailed.

I found the video card on eBay. It was being sold by Newegg, but I got it for $294 instead of the listed $349.

Congratulations my friend!! may she bring you many years of joy!

... until it's actually time to either rip her up in pieces or just ditch her...
"I used to love her, but I had to kill her.." GnR

Enjoy the project man, the feeling if building your own rig is quite spectacular!

just be careful of electrostatic shock. Do not build while on carpet and do your best to ground yourself so you don't shock the parts. Some of them can be damaged.

Australia sucks.

That machine you have there Kel? Since I'm also looking at building a new machine, and stop gaming on a goddamn LAPTOP, I took a look at what you have.

The price to buy that in Australia: $1483.00. Before shipping.

I fucking hate this country.

At least you have koalas!

Koalas are mean. they like to bite you. Same with wombats. Cute and will bite the shit out of you.

hahaha kinda "It's ALIVE!!!!" moment when you turn it on for the first time ever.

Exactly!

Not so true anymore, it's actually more of a myth now. Back in the 20th century electronics couldn't handle shocks like that but most of them can now. But still, I wouldn't suggest building it on a carpet, even if it isn't true it's still scary because you can't be too sure. :p
