Monster Hunter 4 Ultimate

So who besides Gyoin and myself have picked this up?

I have only gotten a few missions in and am still trying out all the weapons but I realize I can't do the ranged weapons. You need to be prepared to shoot and dodge and adjust the area you are shooting. A little to much management for my interest.

You can get 4 people together to play this game and I hope we can get 4 or more people together and have some good times slaying monsters and picking mushrooms.

The 3d function is really well done. I was laying in bed last night and was having trouble with the 3d, the images kept blending together and then I realized that i had it to close to my face. As soon as i moved it further back the image became clear and looked better than it did in 2d.

If you don't want to drop $39.99 right off the bat, there is a playable demo to give you a feel for the game and let you know if you want to pick it up. (It is highly addicting)

I have it, and I have to admit this is my first game of the series. I always found the demo's previously underwhelming, but that's because I didn't truly grasp the expansiveness of the game. I'm excited to keep pushing through, but I can already tell I'm overwhelmed with all of the weapon choices (and then crafting/enhancing each on top of that). I find myself trying to resist the "research everything online to be efficient" process, and simply go through the game as is and pick up everything as I go. That also means I'm wasting hours upon hours reading and deciphering in game, and foraging for new mats more than slaying monsters. I'm sure I'll switch the ratio to fighting more and gathering less, but it's a hard mentality of "omg what if I missed something awesome" that usually strips me from being adventurous and free willing to meticulous and grindy.

I really love this game and got every one since the first one. Since I didn´t finish 3, I didn´t pick up 4 yet. Will probably do it soon though. Can US and EU play together?

Nintendo is pretty good about playing cross region (i do it for everything else such as pokemon, mario kart, smash and animal crossing). I haven't tested, but I'm sure it's possible.

I love monster Hunter games and I'm seriously considering picking up a 3ds and the game. I'll let you know.

I have been playing it quite a bit. I had a hard time getting in to mh3 but so far I'm liking this one a lot. Still struggling to locate the right materials though[DOUBLEPOST=1424474844,1424474769][/DOUBLEPOST]

its not as good but you want my old 3ds?

I can't remember which Monster Hunter I played, but wasn't one of the titles simply hunting monsters? No story or quests, just killing monsters, crafting new items, and then using the new items to hunt bigger monsters? I never got into the series based on that first impression. I feel like some sort of plot is important.

4 supposedly has the most 'plot' out of all of them

I just got to the second town. I'm enjoying dual blades. I have more mobility do I can get in and get out to avoid damage. Have a higher hit %, but lower damage.

And don´t forget that they have less penetration power and often less sharpness.
