Mouse in the House!

hmm. Only had the rat mmo 7 for a week, but I had the rat 5 for 2 years and never had a problem. What I did was buy it a place that has a good return policy so I could take it back if I didn't like it. That and I had an in store credit to knock the price down.

I went ahead and bought the Logitech G700. The size and feel is perfect. It has just the right amount of buttons. I had the Naga, didn't like the button setup nor the feel, so I went back to my Death Adder. However, I wanted a mouse in between the two, so going to try this out. I've found some quick guides on how to make it work with GW2, so hopefully all will go smoothly. I really liked the Death Adder, just needed more buttons, it was driving me nuts.

How do the side buttons feel compared to the adder? I loved how easy the adder are to press specially for mumble I used the left side one.

That was my problem. I think some grit disrupted the contacts, so the right mouse button would sometimes disengage while I held it down. Made for problems in Skyrim when I would draw a bow only to have the arrow immediately fall on the ground in front of me. And alert the guy I was sneaking up on.

I really like them. Your thumb rests a tad under the buttons as opposed to flush on them with the Adder. And the buttons actually seem like they click upwards, but they are really sensitive so its really simple to just rub your thumb on them, but not unless you want to click it. Tough to explain because they are a weird shape and there are four of them. I always had trouble hitting the second Adder button as it was a little too far out for my thumb without readjusting. I can hit all four of these buttons easily without moving my hand at all.

Really love the three index finger buttons as well, perfect positioning. I'm not sure I like the scroll wheel though. I use that for push to talk, which is fine, it's normal. However, the wheel tilts to the right and left for two more buttons, and that part feels really awkward, not sure if I'll bind those two to anything.

The mouse overall is heavier than the Adder as well, which I'll have to get used to. By far though, my favorite part is the four side thumb buttons. I really hated the Naga, it was too much and they were too small. I have a pretty big thumb.

For what it's worth, I personally found them terrible. I'm just spoiled by the Death Adder though.

I'm glad I tried the Naga and G700, and think they're probably great mice for other people, I just was not impressed by the ergonomics of them (actually made my right hand cramp). I'd Amazon/Best Buy one to try it, and return if you didn't like it. That's what I did. You really have to try them out to see if it's for you or not.

This is probably the best advice anyone can give. Gotta try the mouse out for yourself, usually have a 30 day trial from most retail stores, mine was CompUSA. I used the Death Adder for 4-5 years, I've bought several to be exact because I loved them so much, Aamana uses one as well. And for me, the G700 just kills it. But then, I'm 6'2, 270lbs and have large hands, I"m sure that plays into it.

Just wanted to follow up with how the G700 worked in the last stress test, which was excellent. I had zero problems using Set Point to bind my keys, set my profile, and get it to work inside GW2.

- I bound my 7-9 Utilities to the three index buttons on the top left of the mouse.
- I bound my call target and assist buttons to the scroll wheel tilt left, tilt right. Really liked that actually.
- Bound dodge, switch weapons, Elite, and Death Shroud (F1) to the four thumb buttons.
- Still use middle mouse for push to talk, but could easily be heal or what not.

Anyway, was a little worried about how it would perform with GW2 as some people couldn't get it to work, surprised and happy to have no issues whatsoever. Took me about 3 minutes to set up and get playing.

My only issue was the mouse is a lot heavier than the Death Adder, so my twitch was off. I had to jack the sensitivity way up and tinker with it a bit to get it where I like it. But even that is fine now. I also have only played with it wired in, not really interested in the wireless aspect for gaming. The cord hasn't been an issue at all.

So, overall, I'm giving this thing an A+ with GW2. I love the button set up, it's incredibly easy to program, and the mouse fits my hand extremely well for comfort. Now lets see how long it lasts with the pounding I'm going to be giving it. Death Adders would last me a little over a year before the double click thing kicked in.

Ever accidentally hit the mouse weheel left right when going for push to talk?

Do the angled buttons on the left feel strange because of their shape? Hard to hold down for elongated periods of time.

Surprisingly, no in regards to the middle mouse button. Tilt right (Ctrl+T) opens a new tab in my browser, while Tilt left (T) types T, so this was really simple to test as I am responding here. Slow clicking/holding down middle mouse was flawless. Speed clicking like a mad man easily a hundred times, I opened a new browser once.

However, holding down middle mouse while moving my mouse all over the place opened a lot of browsers and typed a lot of Ts. This probably doesn't matter so much in game, and is probably a good thing, as you can easily use these binds while holding down middle mouse. This is, of course, assuming middle mouse continues to work throughout the movement. I'll have to test this, but I'm pretty excited that I can potentially talk on Mumble while still calling out targets and such. Didn't know it worked like that.

In regards to holding down the side buttons for extended periods of time, I don't really do that, but I held them down for a minute just now. They are very sensitive, which I like, so it doesn't take much pressure, and its easy to reach them all. They are a little pointy though, so I probably wouldn't want to hold them down for long periods of time if I can avoid it. I know they don't bother me clicking them every 5-10 seconds non-stop.

**EDIT**
Just dawned on me, you might have been asking about the angled index buttons. Those feel fine for holding down, the angles actually make it feel really natural.

I'm having this issue right now, trying to drag and drop things is a pain sometimes because it'll let em go

I got a Naga Molten Edition, and i never used the 12 side buttons. I find i press them too hard and it shifts my mouse over... really annoying. But i kept the mouse, i just use one button #3 for auto run lol.
