Sim Cities "State of the Game"

Here’s a quick update on the problems we were experiencing with SimCity – and a little something extra for people who bought the game.

The server issues which began at launch have improved significantly as we added more capacity. But some people are still experiencing response and stability problems that we’re working fast to address.

So what went wrong? The short answer is: a lot more people logged on than we expected. More people played and played in ways we never saw in the beta.

OK, we agree, that was dumb, but we are committed to fixing it. In the last 48 hours we increased server capacity by 120 percent. It’s working – the number of people who have gotten in and built cities has improved dramatically. The number of disrupted experiences has dropped by roughly 80 percent.

So we’re close to fixed, but not quite there. I’m hoping to post another update this weekend to let everyone know that the launch issues are behind us.

Something Special for Your Trouble

The good news is that SimCity is a solid hit in all major markets. The consensus among critics and players is that this is fundamentally a great game. But this SimCity is made to be played online, and if you can’t get a stable connection, you’re NOT having a good experience. So we’re not going to rest until we’ve fixed the remaining server issues.

And to get us back in your good graces, we’re going to offer you a free PC download game from the EA portfolio. On March 18, SimCity players who have activated their game will receive an email telling them how to redeem their free game.

I know that’s a little contrived – kind of like buying a present for a friend after you did something crummy. But we feel bad about what happened. We’re hoping you won’t stay mad and that we’ll be friends again when SimCity is running at 100 percent.

SimCity is a GREAT game and the people who made it are incredibly proud. Hang in there – we’ll be providing more updates throughout the weekend.

EA is a steaming pile of shit masquerading as a game company. Ive utterly despised them since they took over my beloved Westwood Studios back in the day and then proceeded to drive my favorite RTS franchise into the ground( I MISS YOU COMMAND AND CONQUER!). Unfortunately they have their greedy hands in a ton of games these days because they assimilated a ton of studios. They are like the Borg of Earth.

Fo' real! :x I think it's weird, though, if you're lucky enough to recover your played cities, the game won't even work right in offline mode. I tried to place a stadium for hours last night, but the game couldn't figure out how to clip it to anything. Finally, after trying various different road layouts and positions, I just gave up. I also couldn't place an airport in the exact same spot where it gave me the okay just hours before. On the other hand, I do find the game fun, and I'm addicted, but it just doesn't work right 90% of the time.

I'd laugh if EA picks the game for us and it turns out to be some random addon for "The Sims 2" or something. ^^

Or I can pick for myself and I decide to get the BF3 addon or the C and C all games pack :p

I returned my bought copy to the store and got me my money back. I've had enough trouble with freaking games, sick and tired of it. If it won't work now, there will be problems in the future too

we would like to try to repair it.

This is the error I am getting now. It makes you quit back out to the region entrance and gives you the option to roll back your city or abandon it. I don't know if it is my city, the region in general thats messed or if it is EA's servers but that is currently what is happening as of 12pm EST today, just a heads up.

It happened to me and I rolled it back. It'll say that there is nothing in the city anymore but when you load it up it'll show that everything in the city is how it was before.

Yeah, I should have mentioned it did it three times in a row for me this morning, at which point i logged off.

And now I cant get back into my city. After the update its permanently rolling back. A few other people have this issue as well. *ponyerr:

Casinos ARE bugged for those of you who have had issues.

WTF am I suppose to do with this?

So seriously... what are we supposed to do with this when we can't build on uneven terrain? Make a Ski Slope for DLC?
