What Class Do You Think You'll Be Playing At Launch?

THIS.

I'm not a PvPer. I don't want to spend 4 hours on a 40 man raid only to have PvP loot drop. I'm sorry if you don't like the PvP grind, but that's how we get our gear in PvE- we grind and farm and harvest and grind and bake the bread...

That metaphor got away from me, but you know what I mean!

I just watched a dev interview where they said that the best pvp gear in game would be acquired from warplots. Further more I haven't read anything about pvp gear dropping in PvE raids, and I've been keeping tabs pretty extensively on this subject seeing as I'm a huge PvP buff.

Lastly they announced that the PvP gear you do get will have two stats unique to PvP gear. Which are PvP power and PvP defense. PvP power increases your dmg to enemy players, whereas PvP defense nerfs the amount of dmg an enemy deals to you. So kinda like how WoW has pvp power and resil, basically the same concept.

I'm still undecided on what class I'll play. I want to play a healer, but Esper is not something that seems appealing and while Spellslinger is an attractive option, I really wish they didn't use pistols. I may have to hold out for that 3rd healing class to be announced before I make a decision.

I'm curious to see the healing in action myself. It seems like timing and positioning are going to be extremely crucial for most healers. In a recent interview they were saying that 90% of one healer will be telegraphs and about 60%+ will be telegraphs for the others, leaving just about 10-40% targeted or smart heals.

I like the esper concept for the most part and actually am pumped to see the spellslinger healer in action.

Hey guys, new member here. I'm looking forward to the possible class will announce fairly soon. I love the idea of using pets. It would be cool if they could tank. I however would want to go the dps route with any pet class. My ideal set up would be dps with the settler path. It's looking like this guild is leaning toward the exile faction so I'd probably either pick Aurin or Human, but definitely going settler with my toon.
A tank with pets would be amazing. I enjoyed hunter in WoW as a casual character, but if the bear was a viable tank... epic. There was awhile in Lich King where voidwalkers were used as tanks. The scaling of hp was really wonky there after a patch and vw's had something ridiculous like 2x the hp for warriors.

A tank that has utility pets would also be interesting, but I like the idea of "indirect" tanking better.

I always DPS, which is what I might end up doing, but I am looking forward to trying healing this time around.

I remember that stint in wrath where VW's were broken. Pretty funny but totally gamebreaking. I agree, the idea of indirectly tanking would be cool but I just don't see it being a reality here, maybe a pseudo version of something like that though. Either way I'm super psyched to hear about it. Hopefully they'll have a reveal at E3. Personally I feel like they will just announce the last two races and probably not the classes. Who knows they might surprise me![DOUBLEPOST=1370611173,1370611080][/DOUBLEPOST]

See I'm primarily a healer myself, and am looking forward to DPSing and maybe Tanking a bit too this time around. Which Class are you going to be rolling?

I"m getting all reminisce-y now..

One of the first epic raid I did in WoW was Zul'Gurub. Pets were used to tank the last boss, Hakkar to get around his penchant for mind-controlling tanks. And who could forget the Corrupted Blood Incident?. I started playing after that, but I was in time to catch the Great Zombie Plague of '08.

That corrupted blood incident was one of the greatest unintended bugs of all WoW time. That thing spread like a plague through servers leaving major cities empty.

Originally Spellslinger but I am waiting on the last two classes. I like Engineery type classes so if the rumors flying around are true its going to be tough to choose.

This is very interesting to me. The whole telegraph thing, but especially for healing. I really enjoy raid bosses where positioning is VITAL. Moving in the proper way at the right time, spreading out, grouping up again... It's like a dance. SO much fun.[DOUBLEPOST=1370611714,1370611624][/DOUBLEPOST]

I want to tank, but I don't like stealth classes, and I find warriors too straight forward for me. I'm holding out for the last tanking class and hoping for a great mechanic on the tanking.

Oh man ZG! That was a lifetime ago. I miss vanilla WoW T_T Hakkar was a real bastard. Oh nice! I remember the Scourge invasion sooooo many feels! I was in Ungoro and got infected by an alliance (I played horde) and all of a sudden in /s I see him say "Hey buddy." I flipped out but sat for like 20 mins just talking to him, it was so cool for them to allow cross faction chat when infected.[DOUBLEPOST=1370611984,1370611732][/DOUBLEPOST]@ Zakis. Same here I am pumped to see if the rumors are true as well, and if they are I know what my first class is going to be ^_^

@ Keleynal. I agree on the raiding and boss fights, it is such a great time and besides 3v3 arena in WoW was the sole reason I played. I am interested in the Stalker tank. I feel like there wouldn't be much stealth involved in the tanking aspect, maybe some clones or copies though? Hard to say but very intriguing.

The thing here is it might turn out like Guild Wars 2 for a lot of us. We went into that game thinking, I am totally going to play this profession. A couple of beta weekends later and half of us had picked completely different classes. Needless to say, we were pleasantly surprised.

That's very true. I had originally thought for sure I'd be rolling elementalist. After my first beta weekend I had decided guardian was the way to go. I hardly play GW2 anymore and I really really hope that Wildstar can fill my gaming void. I've fallen out of love with League of legends and I gave up on WoW at the end of Cata. I don't really play anything right now except a few matches of league a day, and I am not a console gamer.

All I know is I'm sticking with tanking like I said from the start. I'll at least have two at cap to use and decide which I like better. Hopefully I'll like the tanking aspect AND the DPS aspect of one and use that as my main. Usually thought I find mitigation to be the best tank, depending how things are done of course. When you're all dodgy, a little bad luck means you're dead regardless of what everyone else does. I've MT'd for multiple guilds in WoW. Even kind of in GW2(wasn't intentional initially), those that partied with me know what I'm talking about haha..

I healed for 90% of my time in WoW, got into tanking right at the end. I loved the level of control it gave me in the pacing of raids and dungeons. It's more proactive that the reactionary healing. I plan to focus on tanking at first, but it's 100% certain I'll roll a healer as an alt.

One more thing I want to see in WS- make classes that seem designed for a certain role really excel at that role.

For example, a stalker CAN tank, but it should excel as a melee dps and be a close 2nd to warrior for tanking and right on par with the other class. I'm hoping that one of the new classes will be a "dedicated healer" type class. Sure they CAN dps, but I would want them to be be the clear leader in heals.

I did not like how WoW brought up the hybrid classes to be as effective as the "pure" ones. It upset me when druids were clearly superior to priests for healing. In my opinion, if you pick a class that is versatile, you should trade some effectiveness for it.
