Wildstar Wildstar & Learning From EQN

They said that it will regenerate over time.

What I am not sure about is that some abilities that destroy things too much/too fast. IE The warrior in the video was WWing around and fell to the floor below. That part I don't think would be too entertaining but destroying things outside of that I think could be fun.

I am not sure about the class system they have. I can't figure out FFXIV, so I am sure this one would confuse me too until I got closer to it.

It sounds like you start out as a chosen class and race, then as you go through the world you "collect" more and start to infuse them into your build/LAS of some sort?

Does anybody have information on the combat system? I saw the bosses had telegraphs and some of the bells the players had killed 10+ little guys at once but it didn't show telegraphs at all for the players. Maybe traditional tab targetting + telegraph for enemies?

I'm not positive, but I don't think they've talked about the specific mechanics of their combat system - beyond destructibility. I remember coming across a rumor stating that there would be a mix of tab targeting, telegraphs and skill shots, but I'm not sure how factual that statement is or will be. It's been a while since I've taken a look at the game and information and so a lot of it is foggy for me. I'll take a look and edit this if need be later. I'm trying to keep my hype-level as low as possible!

You're right on about the classes, at least as I understand it. I believe the dev's mentioned there would be eight (8) starting classes to choose from, which determines a starting weapon set and which types of weapons you can have over the course of playing your character. Once you have a class chosen and weapon set loaded, you're given a number of abilities to use and choose from. Of the eight (8) ability slots currently planned, four (4) are dedicated to your weapon set and four (4) are dedicated from your class (Weapon abilities & Class abilities).

Once you find or quest out other classes, you'll have an option to multi-class up to two (2) of them and there are purportedly over fourty (40+) to 'acquire'. So yes, in a sense it's similar to FFXIV, where your multiclass and your personal decisions will ultimately create a fairly unique character.

personal decisions will ultimately create a fairly unique character. nope. given the nature of 8 skills from 2 class's there will be an optimal combination of such per role. unless their wep modification plans allow for wacky nonsense like Swordbow's or Wandaxe's your going to cookie cutter and fast. they are going to have the same problem as The Secret World. Its gonna be a mess. I mean sure you can say run a Paladin/archer but its kind of hard to block with a bow or volley with a Mace.

You've pointed out some really legitimate concerns, but I think there will be some ways to keep your character from being just like everyone else's. Sure, there'll be min-maxing ... that's pretty much impossible to avoid in any numbers oriented game, but I think a character who has been in the game for a thousand hours will be much more different than one that's just started. Since the AI is being described as next generation, I think it's fair that we can speculate some kind of evolution of our character, based on their actions in the game...kind of like a 'Black and White' module for characters. Additionally rare gear, tier-ups and aesthetic changes we have direct control over. Perhaps even spell and ability 'evolutions' based on decisions we make in the game.

Then again, you're also approaching the larger, over arching topics like free will and free choice (neither of which I really think exist, despite a deficit of hard proof). As it is my opinion, we could never design a complete or perfect game and so, there will always be limits and boundaries we can't cross.

I'm not a fan of using the 'wait and see' card, but you're right to be concerned. I'm no fan of SOE post PoP and the fiction that's been released is a little weak (if that's any indicator).
