Syria...

There is no problem that can't be made worse by ramming a big red, white, and blue cock into it.

But thats how 'Murica fixes everything! Honestly Obama is too concerned with policing his own people and let this situation deteriorate too much.

And the nuclear power industry put me through college. So there's that.

So big nuclear paid you off.

Seriously, though, I agree. There's always been a pallor of fear over nuclear reactors and this idea that they could blow AT ANY MOMENT, a'la Sim City, but it just isn't the case. Also, there's the idea that they create tons of waste that can never be properly discposed of. Actually, that might be true. But we have to pick a poison. We can only burn coal for so long, and solar and wind still have a long way to go.[DOUBLEPOST=1377710185,1377709639][/DOUBLEPOST]
Hitler build the Autobahn, Stalin had full employment in his state...

You really think you can draw a direct comparison there? Our highways are nowhere near as good as the Autobahn.

The bad part here is it keeps escalating, and Russia, China, and Iran are all on the offensive at the moment.

Why the fuck do we have a UN anyway? IT just seems pointless when it comes down to the UK and french agreeing before we take action.

The UK and France are already with the US on this one.

"The UN Security Council is divided, with Russia and China opposing military intervention and the UK and France warning that the UN could be bypassed if there was 'great humanitarian need'."

Great humanitarian need to bomb the fuck out of their "military positions", which causes a full scale uprising and use of more chemical weapons from offshore, not ever coming to shore to enforce said "help".... yeah.. great idea so far.

Well yeah I'm not really expecting anything to come out of the UN either. How long is it until we get to launch missiles that actually are red white and blue cocks? That'll learn 'em./bananajump

I think the time for trying to teach them anything is past. We just need to stop the chemical weapons from being used. They surest way is to blow them up.

You are Syria...

You hear the US is about to strike your military bases.

You then listen on the news and find out the general time frame.

You then see the breakdown of how it will be done in every paper around the world.

You A: Move all chemical weapons away from those targets to safe random ass locations like civilian houses

or

You B: Put them on the runways of the airfield to be properly destroyed.

NO MATTER HOW HARD YOU SMASH THE SQUARE AGAINST THE CIRCLE HOLE, IT STILL WON'T FIT.

Imagine if we published out D-Day attack prior to doing it?

Let´s recreate this scenario:
On the night of December 2, 1943, German Ju 88 bombers attacked the port of Bari in Southern Italy, sinking several American ships– among them SS John Harvey, which was carrying mustard gas intended for use in retaliation by the Allies if German forces initiated gas warfare. The presence of the gas was highly classified, and authorities ashore had no knowledge of it– which increased the number of fatalities, since physicians, who had no idea that they were dealing with the effects of mustard gas, prescribed treatment improper for those suffering from exposure and immersion.

Yeah I thought they made it clear they were going to target military bases responsible for carrying out the chemical attack, if it was indeed the military that carried out the attack, but definitely not the storage facilities because that would be pretty stupid.

Anyway, if the world does nothing we're saying chemical warfare is fair game but if we do attack then more lives will be lost, we might further destabilize the region, we'd be royally pissing off two other global players, etc etc. Fucked either way. It's time to decide what our principles are worth to us.

I think the US and co. should hold off for now, though. Let the UN team do their job first, at least.

Then we will wait forever, and when no one in Syria except Assad is alive, we might have an agreement to write him a letter of reprimand.

No, don't wait for the UN to come to an agreement, just until the UN chemical weapons team has had time to take a proper look-see. Then the NSA can just intercept the report.
