Syria...

What makes it difficult is the real world has very few bad guys and good guys. It's mostly just guys trying to do mostly good things, but screwing it up most of the time or causing unintended consequences.

But which side do you support, when both sides are evil, and the public is helping both sides?

There's rarely only two solutions to a problem. Even though I wouldn't consider Russia the good guys, the idea they are pressing about having Syria dismantle and allow thorough inspections is a good middle road between bombing them and doing nothing.

Since I don't think it's in this thread yet, the UN investigators found that sarin gas was 100% most definitely used in Syria, though their mission mandate stated that they were not to assign blame or something.
The US and Australia and probably a few others are saying it was the regime and Russia is all like "whoa hold on there's no definite proof of that homies it coulda been the other guys."

This sounds like the plot of a TV show that I watch.

That's what I got from the UN report I linked above: no doubt at all that gas was used, but complete silence as to the source of it. The same page has the US intelligence report that does plenty of finger pointing. The Brit intelligence said pretty much the same thing.
