Favorite Manga - Anime

It's actually faster to read a manga than it is to watch an anime. In a manga, there is little to no filler and you read at your own speed. Anime on the other hand, is predetermined time and may have a lot of crap in it that you've seen once, twice, three times etc.

When you start cutting out opening scenes, ending scenes, previews, recaps, flashbacks, and fillers.... You're left with about 10 minutes of content in a 23 minute video. Sucks, but it's truth. And that's still slower than reading the manga. Typically.

Yeah I've been told that, but I don't know I just like anime better than manga. I guess I just like the sound and visuals better, I get more from the anime than I do from manga. But I think it's just me.

Yeah, I know a lot of people like that. Anime is great for social situations, but when I really get into a story, I can not read fast enough to get through it. I lose my attention span on anime. I tend to do other things while I watch it, but if I do that and it's subbed I lose all the story, and if I watch it dubbed then.... well.... That doesn't really occur often. Because dubbed 9/10 times suck.

Totally agree, I rarely if ever watch dubbed anime. It just seems right to watch subbed. However I don't like reading/watching as much as I can because some times I watch it too fast and then I don't really "savor" the anime.

I'm usually a bigger fan of literary forms of art than their on screen counter-parts. However, when it comes to Manga and Anime, the opposite is true. I find the visceral experience far more enjoyable, even if it is slower.

Personally I read waaaay more manga than watch anime but that is maybe because i can read manga at work but i cant watch anime... and at home i rather play if i get the luxury of leisure time...

if watching Full metal alchemist for the first time... go for Brotherhood... its a remake and its waaay better than the original series... and sticks to the manga (the first series didn't)
I personally disagree that Brotherhood is better. I loved the first series and felt that it was almost perfect (for the genre that it is). When I heard Brotherhood was coming out, I was kind of torn, because I wanted to see more of FMA, but I didn't want an alternate story, since I loved the first so much. Yes, I know it's more true to the manga, but as it stands alone, I just couldn't get into it. I watched about 16 episodes before I shelved it to watch "later."

yeah, i get what you are saying but disagree. I feel that brotherhood is waaay superior in almost all perspectives... animation, color, dialogue and story overall. Being a fan of the original I was a little wary of brotherhood when it came out but it won me over, even the story is more coherent.

Cowboy Bebop was my favorite anime for a long time. It may still be, but it has some serious competition. It gives me that really nostalgic feeling and has meaning to me personally beyond just the story and music. But man is that music great. I know this isn't a music thread, but what the hell, here are some of my favorites:

It's actually really hard to narrow it down to just a few songs!

And as a side note..

I just finished watching Sword Art Online. It was really good. It is only 25 episodes long.

The manga is a lot longer, I am going to start reading it.

So I've been watching a new series.

Its called Project K. Its pretty interesting so far. Just figured I'd mention it since I keep getting emails about how new posts are made to this thread. I really need to turn that off. lol.

But yeah. Project K.
