You manage to find his location in the Lab. You manage to get access to the main door of his Lab, and realize that it is connected to corridors with vacuum.I'm going to try and trace the call from the unknown crewman back to its source, and see if I can obtain admin control over his local systems, maybe open some doors between us and him. If I can, I'll offer a zero-clearance invite into the TacNet, allowing him to see things we specifically want to share with him. If I can get access to the security feed, I'll post that on TacNet as well.
"Hello there, unidentified human survivor, my name is Watson and I'm the tech specialist. I'm going to try and connect you to the group's network wirelessly. If you have a wireless interface, look for invites now. They may appear as security warnings on older systems. If you have basic entoptic overlays you should see if in front of your eyes. If you don't have an overlay, look at your nearest security monitor. There may be some flickering before I find a workaround."
I look at the metal bars blocking our way, realizing I didn't have the strength to do anything about them.
While I waited for someone to do react, I decided to move into the storage room, hoping to find something useful inside.
You move into the storage room and the door closes directly behind you. There are 2 more of the androids you have seen before, but they are in an even worse state than the one before and look like they are about to fall apart any moment. One of them notices you and quickly runs toward you.
Panicking, I open fire at the android rushing towards me. Unfortunately, only one of my shots makes contact but wasn't enough to stop it from reaching me. Before I could react, the android tackled me onto the floor.
The last thing I remember were its red, glowy eyes as it choked the life out of me. I kicked and tried to scream "help," but all I could hear was a slightly audible welp. The room slowly darkened around me. I clasped at its wrists, hoping to pry them away from my neck.
After the darkness, all I could see was light.
At response to the gunfire, I quickly try to insert the battery to the chainsaw while running to Rolfe's location.
"Damnit Rolfe didn't we just say how you shouldn't go off on yer own?!?'"
I try busting through the bars with the chainsaw as quickly as I can to Rolfe's aid.
even more silly rolling for Bruce to see if he breaks through fast enough to save you
!roll 20
Euchale rolled 10!
There're still blips of life signs in my HUD, but no response from the man. I use two hands to apply pressure to his wound and cover the rip in his suit. I desperately hope it's enough but I know it isn't helping. I can't remember the steps to take. ((Do I roll against my Procedures and Medicine?))
I quickly try to search Rolfe for any medical supplies I can use to treat him, he usually has the proper gear for this kinda thing.
I cautiously step over to where Brutus and Buck are attempting to provide first aid. I look and see if there's anything I can do that isn't already being done (Medicine 1).
(("101 Ways to Ruin Emotional Moments" by Diremongoose :alien12I shrug. We'll restore him from backup when we get back, or we'll all wake up with him after we all die. It wouldn't be the first time.
You look around in the room and see that what the voice in the sky has said is true, this is indeed a storage room. Which is good for you as you find 5 more of the energy cells(at 11% just like the other one) for your chainsaw. You didn't use too much of your energy yet, so it should be enough to finish cutting through the metal bars (you are down to 9 from 11).Once Rolfe fades, I immediately start looking around for anymore of the damn cyborg shitbags to bust up with the chainsaw. I also glance at my power % on the battery pack is left.
You manage to recover:I scavenge Rolfe's stuff, putting it into a smart plastic sack that I pull out of my suit. I leave it on the ground for anyone to browse while I work on the corpse.
You manage to retrieve the implant, but your psyche takes a hit and you feel like you have a hard time concentrating. You follow Bruce through the room and don't find anything particularly useful.Taking the helmet off the suit I turn the body over and make an incision at the base of the skull. I'm not too careful with the procedure as the Stack implant is almost impossible to damage unintentionally. I do put a bag around the head though, as the grape-sized metallic implant is prone to popping out and skidding around.
It's not that I'm not squeamish or detached...but this is an primate body I'm butchering.
Once I'm done I'll stand up, pick up the clear plastic sack, and cover Brutus as he advances.
